Range closed so...
« on: November 28, 2019, 06:43:31 PM »
Wanted to do a range experience thing but the weather just wasn't good so went inside the Czechmate barrel that has just under 1000 rounds on it. Looks ok so far.

All I see is a blurry unrecognizable image, and clicking on doesn't display it, either.  I'm gathering you shot into a bucket . . .

Should have shot into the Photobucket.

Okay, the old fix no longer works.  I installed a new fix for photoshop links and I can see the photos now:

looks like a Lyman borescope picture what are you using to clean your bore with I can see a little copper wash on the left of the first picture for a 1000 rounds it looks ok you may want to try some JB bore paste once in a wile to remove any copper wash
you don't need to look far to see someone your happy your not

Hi Ron...

I'm used a Teslong borescope with my smart phone.

The barrel was cleaned with KG1 carbon remover and patches. I haven't shot anything but HI Tek coated loads so far. The copper remains from the factory test fire.

I've had good results with both KG2 bore polish and USP bore paste both on copper fouling.

The problem with having a good borescope is that one may become fanatical about bore cleaning.  I bought a good (for me) Lyman last year and have to keep the power supply in the house and the 'scope in the shop for safety reasons.  Otherwise, I may actually check some pistol barrel that shot perfectly well at 200 yards and find it was actually filthy.  I'd miss a meal or some sleep trying to get it back to like new condition and maybe get sick as a result.

Seriously, the .22 Kadet needs cleaning more often than any of my CZ 9mm centerfire pistols.  My Kadet will fall off on accuracy in 500-1000 rounds, about the same time the chamber gets some buildup and starts dragging on the casings, causing feed problems.  I can see chamber and leede crud with a borescope in the .22.  And tooling marks when the crud is removed.  And corrosion when the barrel is near the end of its life.  Takes a long time, like 50k rounds.   The 9mm/.45 cal barrels/chamber don't seem to be anywhere near as demanding.

I uses to use the high end borescope with an external colored monitor we use to inspect turbine engine blades in checking my guns barrels and rifles. While it was very nice in pinpointing any cracks, anomalies and dirt, it also led me to being OCD with regards to cleaning so I stopped doing it  O0.

I just clean it the normal way and have fun shooting them  ;D.

My borescope was a mere $49.

I find it useful to see if my cleaning process was effective and to prevent unnecessary cleaning once the fouling was already removed.

Although some of my rifles have the cracked dry lake bed look they still shoot great.

Looking in the bores of firearms at the gun show sure gives some useful feedback.

The borescope ended the debate at our range on weather or not lead fouling was present in the bore after use of Hi Tek coated bullets.

The boresnake man at our range was disappointed to see what remains in his barrels after a few passes with his boresnake.

There is a reason why I have ended some posts with a statement like this...

"No, I'm not going to clean it.  Might ruin it."   :) :) :)

This is fun.
