Adding a QD mount into a Scorpion Zhukov stock adapter

I have never felt comfortable running the rear sling all the way to the end of the stock. My preference was to attached in the middle of the rifle. I have an UTG QD mount laying around and I thought that maybe I could make it work with the Zhukov stock. Being tinkerer by nature and my stuff are no safe queens I said why not. Granted this will require some grinding, drilling and taping. If this is too much to deal with, you can get a set of QD mount from Parker Mountain.
I have a carbine with faux suppressor and the Zhukov adapter is from Reptilia. I was going with HB Industries but I was presented with a great deal that I could not refuse.
The first challenge was to where I could install the QD mount. The main consideration as to where the screws are going to be in the adapter. After looking closely I decided to the right in the middle of the horizontal channel.
Because of the rear molded slot for the sling I had to do some grinding to clear it. I noticed that the newer scorpions do not have the molded slot for the sling. The Magpul version in the CZ website does not have the molded slot. Similarly in the HBI site as well. Also I had to grind the bottom tabs of the QD mount.
Now here comes the critical part of the process. Drilling and Taping the holes in the adapter. I carefully marked the center of the holes but it would be even easier if I had set of
transfer punch
. I also opted to tap the hole with 10-32 instead of 10-24 per UTG qd mount included screws. The area that I tapped it was a little over 3/16" thick. I also I had to grind the screw shorter so that it will not interfere with the adapter.
Here is the modification completed. The bare metal was spray painted with flat black. A little of Blue thread lock on the screws and the mount is really solid. Looking at the pictures of the adapter from HBI, it seems that it would be easier to do it where there is no molded sling slot and the adapter itself has a flat surface. Perhaps HBI can have these holes drilled and tapped for an updated version of their adapter. As far as which QD mount to use, it would be Magpul since it is pretty much the standard.

Thanks all for your comments. My curiosity got me real good that I broke down and bought a Magpul QD Mount at my local gun shop. Here is the result. No grinding one of the side like the UTG. Also notice that I
did not
remove the bottom tabs. I just installed it.
As far as I can see, HBI can have the holes drilled and tapped including the grooves so that the QD mount's bottom tabs can be recessed in. Just like this => (O) (O) Or it could be a full circular groove all around each mounting hole. The only thing that HBI has to source are the shorter socket head screws. Suppliers like McMaster-Carr comes to my mind.
HBI should offer a retrofit service for those who already have their HBI Zhukov adapter and wanted to install a Magpul QD Mount. Good Idea?
Please note that I am pitching this idea to HBI because I believe that they are capable to do running changes in their products without too may red tapes. Also, I do not have any financial gains for this idea. I just like to give back to this CZ forum community. Anyway, I am glad that you enjoyed my "how to" idea. I had a lot of fun doing it.

Nice job Romukom! That looks awesome! It is always so encouraging to see people working on their own stuff; especially projects like this where there is some light metal working involved, but the outcome is something that no one else has! Again, very well done.
We (HBI) could potentially offer a retrofit service if there was demand for it? We might be able to purchase a couple different off the shelf QD's in bulk and give customers their choice with a discount there (possibly the best use of KeyMod mounts lol... easier to retrofit like this than MLOK).
Also, side note, we have been poking around at a couple different ways to integrate QD points onto our stock adapters. We make several different adapters for stocks and braces onto several firearms. They all have their unique challenges but if we made a kind of "common denominator" mounting plate similar to what you have shown it would give customers more options. So, I guess reading between the lines, something similar to what you have made here is not off the table
