I don't mean to land with a thud, but I was so excited to get this 527 Carbine, drove 40 mins each way to buy quality ammo in advance, relied upon the reputation of CZ as a quality arms manufacturer - and spent near $700 of the rifle plus two magazines for $70+, and i get it home and the bolt disintegrates, just falls apart. And as a first time, owner, there is scarce documentation that CZ provide on how it goes together. The extractor clip is completely snapped off, the bolt unit does not stay together and now the mechanism is such a disaster that i fear trying to figure it out because I could make it worse. CZ manual gives you no idea on what to do to fix it.
The manual is like in 6 pt type with terse, non-descriptive lines, and if they provide the gun with the bolt separate in the package they should at least have some instruction on how to install the bolt. As it isn't a smooth, simple "just slide it in" process, it seems to fit awkwardly and that's when the bolt fell apart. Likely I did something wrong, I acknowlegde, but I barely touched the bolt and it disintegrated. I mean, is it that fragile? That's so disappointing in a $700 carbine. So yeah, I am just very disappointed and frustrated. Yes, I suppose CZ will take care of it and I hear here that their support is good. But shipping it back and forth and all the time and hassles involved for a non-operative rifle that is expensive and I never even got to fire. And I was not manhandling or forcing the thing whatsoever, if anything being gentle out of prudence, and the bolt just fell apart. The extractor clip separated from the collar too.
I looked up You Tube and there aren't a lot of clear videos, maybe because it's not a common rifle. If there are simple, clear vids for newbs to 527 on how to install the bolt, how to put it back together with the right orientation of the components so you don't screw it up, i would be forever grateful. The CZ manual is sort of useless, and you need a magnifying glass to read it. Since I'm new to the 527, and since the extractor clip fell off - which seems highly unusual - I am loathe to screw around with it more until I know what the heck to do. I could take it to an armorer and add another $50 to $100 in fix time, or hassle with CZ and take a month and half to get it back. I am concerned now that after they fix it first time I try to clean it, it'll fall apart.
I am a pistol guy, have Walthers, Berettas, H&K, S&W and a AR that is a simple joy. This CZ carbine is the most frustrating situation I have had in firearms. I apologize if i am upset. I now wish I never bought it, but now have to figure out the fix.
