2 questions about the Phantom
« on: January 19, 2020, 11:08:32 PM »
1. I've read that some Phantoms have trouble with magazines that don't come with it, but I also read there are no problems interchanging mags.  What's the verdict?  I don't see why it would be a problem.  Maybe it was the first gen Phantoms that had a problem.

2.  Is the Phantom's grip thinner than a standard 75 with grip panels?  It seems like it should be thinner, and thus have a smaller circumference.

Thanks

Never heard of question/issue number one. If it's a factory new gun, it comes with two mags. No ifs, ands, ors, or buts about it. lol
And yes, regular CZ 75, SP-01 mags, etc are compatible.

As for question 2, all my SP-01's have aftermarket grips, but the Phantom feels a little thinner to me.

My 2017 Phantom runs great with all my magazines (CZ or MecGar, 17, 18, or 19-round)...
The Phantom is a bit thinner...excellent ergonomics.

Have a gen 1. Not sure if it’s thinner, but I have a houge slip grip to add a palm swell - perfect fit.

Have a lot of different CZ factory and mecgar mags. The new style mecgar with the plastic +2 bases are the only ones that don’t work right. Been so long since I tried them I can’t remember if they were too tight to fit or if they just didn’t drop free, lol. They work fine in steel frame CZs, SAR K2P and Caniks so I guess its the Phantom frame.

Some people had issues with aftermarket mags on the Gen 1 Phantoms. The new ones are fine as CZ changed the formulation of the polymer.

I use palmswell grips on my metal CZ. The phantom is definitely thinner

Thanks, guys.  That convinced me to buy one.  I ordered one this morning for $420.  Now I just need to find a holster.  Any suggestions?

That sounds like a deal!    Mind sharing where, cause I’ll buy one for that $$
