Just wondering if anybody on the Forum has ever used any of the commercially available coating systems. I live about 3 blocks from a Duracoat facility, a mile from a CeraKote vendor and 2 miles from Walmart with an endless choice of Krylon rattle can colors. My wife wants her black P10c  purple. The Slide remains black.

Any advice appreciated, techniques, primer, surface preparation, durability. I'll be finishing over it with a sandpaper grip so most wont show, just enough color showing to give it a little class. TX

I used Krylon Fusion on one of my P-07s a few years ago and it's holding up well.  It's showing some signs of wear but it's giving it a nice patina.  I went from black to OD Green.
As I understand it, if you have it Cerakoted or Duracoated, they'll degrease it and sand blast it first to open up the polymer a bit.  This gives the new coating some 'tooth' or roughness to bond to.  That is irreversible.
If you want to give it a shot, I wouldn't be afraid to try the Fusion rattle can first.

The other two however, will be more durable.

My son did a rattle can job on a polymer rifle stock and it looked like it came from the factory that way. If so inclined I say go for it.
Let's go Brandon!

I was thinking that so little will be showing due to the sandpaper that I'd give the ol' rattle can a try. Thanks for the responses. I won't attempt until the weather warms. I'll post pics as it progresses, probably a pic or two at the range. Thanks again
