P01 On the Way
« on: January 24, 2020, 08:50:08 AM »
Finally!! Had my LGS order a P01 yesterday. She's not a CZ dealer, so it may take a few days. But I can't wait. I'm a big boy.  :-\

I'd waffled back and forth between the P01 and the PCR. Originally wanted the PCR. But when it came time to "pull the trigger", so to speak, for some reason I said P01. I knew I'd want a spring kit for it, regardless of which compact variant I ended up with. That's on its way. It's all the other stuff I've read about here. (really need to read less!!!  ;) ) Sights, different triggers, grips, etc. Since I  have a limited budget for the pistola, got to do some hard figuring on what I need vs want. Thing is, I rarely modify my handguns. Especially if carrying. But for some reason I see myself making a few changes to the base P01.

Grips, I've always liked the rubber grips. But I've seen the Lok Grips and they keep calling me! But still, a "want".
Sights, probably a "need", but should try the stock first.
Ben Stoeger has a slim profile slide catch/release. Def a "want". Wondering what good that would be if the decocker lever isn't low profile as well. Haven't seen one of those in the wild.
IWB is a "need". Already ordered a new shell for my Alien Gear.
Ammo - def a "need". Need lots and lots with a new gun.

Thoughts? More for me to read? ....  8)

 :) ;D
Congratulations !
You've read enough already  ::)
I like your list of "wants" and "needs". I think you will change status for sights to "need" - the factory sights are horrible (of course this is personal preference... but you will see)

Can you post a link to "Ben Stoeger slim profile slide catch/release"? I couldn't find one for P-01. Thx.

My P-01 only has different sites. The rest is great out of the box.

Congratulations on your new pistol. For me, I installed the spring kit, blackened the rear sight with a Sharpie, and replaced the front sight with a fiber optic Dawson. It has become my favorite handgun, even though I have spent more time and money on others.

Enjoy,
Richard

Kinda making a leap here. Figure for the $35 + shipping it wouldn't be too bad if it didn't fit. This is a slim profile catch for the Shadow 2. If you look below the release it shows the standard size for the P01/Shadow2. Logic says the slim for the Shadow 2 should then fit the P01. ... uh, right?

Just finished the fluff n buff and CGW parts on the P-01 I picked up last week off the for sale section here.  Great feel a perfect size in hand.

Encouraging! What parts did you install?

Pistol I purchased has the srs-1, tru dot sights and aluminum grips installed. I did the complete tear down and installed the rrk-2, floating trigger pin and the reduced power springs.  Changed the three decocker cage springs, and polished ALL metal-to-metal contact points including the hammer, sear and decocker parts.  I removed two coils from the #13 hammer spring.  Super smooth action now.

Lots of fun re assembling the decocker cage the first time, second time much faster after growing the third hand.

Srs-1? I think I can do all of the mods I'm wanting, myself. Except ^^^^ that! I have no interest in tackling the sear cage with a decocker. Kudos to you for jumping in and doing it yourself. So, what do you do with the third hand when you're not fixing pistols? ..........  ::)

The third hand is a hinderance at times, shirts, gloves, jackets stuff like that.

First experience with a de cocker CZ pistol.  Not enamored with the de cocker prefer a safety.  Apex Tactical has a very good video on the de cocker and a slave pin is a must have.
