I had an SP-01 Tactical for a while and I felt the same way about it.  It shot great but was just too big and heavy to be practical.  I shoot my P-09 better and finally sold my Tactical to fund a second P-07.

I can't say enough good about the P-09 and P-07 platform.

The SP01 (in either version) is a Tactical Response weapon, intended for limited carry and ultimate accuracy. With all-steel construction and 18 rounds it's simply too heavy for daily carry. But it was never designed for that. However, the weight makes it a fantastic target gun, and can easily evolve into a fabulous competition gun. Much, much better IMHO than a P09. I think you'll regret that decision in time.

If you can only own one gun, then the P07 is an excellent "jack of all trades". It gets some stiff competition from the P10c. Even if you don't like striker guns, you still owe it to yourself to try one.

I love my SP-01 Tactical after giving it some CGW mojo. Such a great shooting and accurate pistol. It's not a carry pistol for me, though. On the other hand, the SP-01 is no heavier than a lot of full-size 1911s, and obviously plenty of people have carried those for many years. As with all heavier guns, the right belt and holster can make a huge difference.

Back on topic, though I own several nice Sigs, I keep coming back to the P-07. There's just something about it that I haven't found in any other pistol I've tried - the combination of accuracy, great ergos, and reasonably light weight for it's size. So far I haven't done much to it, because the trigger was actually pretty good on this one out of the box - I gave it a thorough cleaning and light polishing, installed the CGW #18 hammer spring, reduced TRS and DA roller bushing, and threw a bright orange Night Fision front sight on it, and it's been GTG. And because I prefer AIWB carry, there's something very reassuring about being able to thumb the hammer when holstering.

Oh, and this thread needs pics... ;D

I'll second that. My P10 is the easiest gun to shoot well that I've ever come across.

The advantage is not huge, but is notable.

That said, I carry a P 07, as I want the hammer and safety in a CC gun.

I still have an OD Green 75B that I've had for years, if I get an urge to shoot an all steel classic.  I get it out every now and then to run a few rounds through it, clean it, and fondle it a little bit, but I still go back to my P-09 for the 50 yard steel and my P-07 for carry.

When my middle daughter was going to field training for ROTC, she practiced with the Tactical before she left.  I figured it would be a decent comparison to shooting the Beretta.  She qualified expert.

Curious about ayour experience with a few items you mentioned.  I also have gravitated toward the P07 for carry.  How did you find the 18# spring and reduced trigger return spring to have helped with trigger pull?

Also, if you only replaced the front sight with a Night Fision, how have you liked it, and did you notice any shift in elevation?  My P07 hits right where I point.  I’m interested in a more visible front sight, but don’t want to effect POA/POI.

Both the lighter hammer spring and the reduced power TRS were most noticeable on the DA pull, which was greatly improved.

The Night Fision sight for the P-07 is specifically designed as a drop-in replacement for the stock sight. There was no change in elevation at all. I have found the bright orange NF sight to be a huge improvement for fast sight acquisition over the stock front sight. It's very bright in the dark as well.

Thanks.  My other carry pistol has an Ameriglo front night sight with orange surround, and blacked out rear sight.  I really like that setup and it would be my preferred way to go on the P07.

Sounds like a good upgrade.

Took my P-07 out this AM to the range after a long time not firing it. I am still the most accurate with it of all my firearms....it just is a perfect fit. It is still my favorite 9mm.  I been taking S/A revolvers to the range since I bought a Wrangler and a couple of .22 Rough Riders, but also been taking my Glock 43x to the range.  The P-07 was my carry firearm, and if the P-07 were just a bit smaller and stayed the same D-S/A with decocker, to me it would be the perfect EDC firearm.

Hammer Time,
Handsome pistol. Is that an Urban Grey?

Always like the contrast of black nitride slide against grey. I've had my P-07 UG SR for 3-4 years now and it has 'mellowed' to almost a light FDE in the right light. That's OK too. My other P-07 is black with a titanium cerakote slide. They're such comfortable and accurate pistols, I can easily go through 200-300 rounds of hot ammo without any fatigue.

Thanks, Vinny. It's actually the OD grip module, but yeah I love the 2-tone look as well.
