CZ Shadow II

I am looking at purchasing a CZ Shadow II for range use and home defensive.  I have researched this model extensively and have laid hands on one at my local gun store and believe it's a great pistol!  All the information online has been very complimentary.  I currently use a Sig P365 or Shield 2.0 for EDC and for other uses I have an HK Expert 45, Dan Wesson Valor 45, Sig Legion P226 9mm SAO and a couple of S&W PC revolvers.  I believe one of these CZ's would be a great addition - thoughts appreciated!

I have the opportunity to purchase either the Shadow II with black grips, gray frame and black slide or all black finish with blue grips.  Is one finish more durable than the other?

Get one! It’s a very nice gun out of the box. It’s very easy to upgrade also since there’s a lot of aftermarket support for it. CZ Custom and Cajun Gun Works are the two best sources for upgrade parts.

I have one and use it in USPSA’s Carry Optics division after I had it milled for a red dot the Primary Machine. I started with it I Shooting in Production division of USPSA but my vision has gone down significantly and I had a hard time seeing the iron sights hence the slide milling for a red dot.

You can’t go wrong with it. Let us know how it goes and have fun.

The urban grey looks good IMO, but it shows wear much faster than the black frame does.

True but you still have the black layer underneath the Urban Grey.  Or is there two layers on the black frame as well?  Is there something under the polycoat on the black frames.....I've never seen a black one with a bunch of wear to know.

I own a Urban Gray and it does show dirt due to the Gray surfaces.  Nothing has stained the coating up to this point.  If I remember correctly it is the same coating as the Black coating. 

Given to do it over again, I would get the Black and Blue S2.

I picked up a Black with blue Shadow 2 a few weeks ago. I could have had the Urban Gray with less of a wait, but  I had heard the same thing about the gray that you mention.
Besides that, the black and blue looks really sharp!

Looks aside, this is the nicest handgun i have ever owned and was worth every penny I paid for it!

I was ready to take the plunge and purchase the Blue/Black Shadow II and this morning my dealer ran out of this particular model - drat!  They did have the Shadow II in Urban Gray in stock for a hair less than $1000.  They didn't know when the blue/black would be in stock so I jumped on the gray one.  I will be using this for a range gun only so holster wear won't be an issue and I'm always cleaning guns so I expect the gray finish to hold up well.  Can't wait!

Hooray - I just received my new Shadow 2 in Urban Gray yesterday and it's a beauty.  I measured the trigger pull last night and it comes in at 9 1/2 pounds double action and right at 4 pounds single action.  Gonna put 200 rounds through it and see what the pull weight is then - if still the same will look at installing a 13 pound main spring to see if I can get the double action weight down some.  It's a solid piece of equipment!

You'll love it.  The Shadow 2 is one of the most ridiculously accurate handguns, straight out of the box, that I have ever owned.

I have the black/blue shadow and really love to fire it.
very accurate,no problems just pass 600 rds,
its a keeper,cannot go wrong with either color.

Congrats on your Shadow2! The range I use has had one in stock for a while and I keep asking to see it. I have been wanting one for a while. The DA pull for me is a little bit long though so I am thinking about picking up the SA version.

The DA pull is heavy and long but very smooth and easy to master. Whenever I shoot mine I always take a few shots starting with DA to keep familiar with the feel. The groups show DA is not a handicap.

Yeah I have no issue with a DA first shot. I actually prefer it. It is the actual reach for my trigger finger on that first DA pull that is a little long for me. The CGW reach reduction is a mod I have really been wanting on my SP-01 Tactical.

Love my black/blue shadow 2.    Shoot it better than every handgun I own except me old Ruger Super Blackhawk that’s had a LOT of work done on it and that I’ve fired thousands of rounds through.   If it wasn’t so big/heavy I’d carry it everyday😊.
