TSO question
« on: February 13, 2020, 07:23:26 AM »
Why are the .40 Cal TSO's found cheaper (and more available) than the 9mm?   Are the 9mm models easier to get back on target with the recoil of the smaller caliber?

Trying to determine if its worth paying a few hundred more for the 9mm over the .40 cal

It’s just a case of supply and demand. The 40 is meant for steel shooting competitions where the power factor of the 40 is necessary to knock down targets. The shear size, weight and design of the TSO completely negates the recoil of the 40 cartridge though. What’s your purpose for the gun?  Comps or just range fun?

Buy the .40 and swap me the top end and mags, I will pay for shipping both ways!

The .40 SW is for shooting limited major in USPSA. A 9 mm will do fine shooting steel, and will also work for limited minor in USPSA.

The gun is weighty but the .40 major recoil remains significant. In 9 mm recoil is less.

Mostly range fun. Sold my STI Staccato P to fund a precision rifle build.  I was going to replace it but I've been hearing such good things about the TSO that I thought I might go that route instead.  I had though I shot one that belonged to a friend, but his was actually a Shadow Orange.  I'd like to try my hand at competition, but its difficult to find events because I work weekends.
