P01 Back from Warranty
« on: March 10, 2020, 06:57:48 PM »
My P01 finally!! (ok, it was only about 3 1/2 weeks) is back from the Mothership. I had issues with the slide locking open on still loaded mags. As suspected, it was the slide release spring. They installed and fitted the new one. Seems to work just fine, as I put about 300 rds thru it today. I gathered up all the odd stock I had lying around and headed to the range. The pistol didn't care what I put in it. It shot it all: 124gr Round Nose Reman, 115gr Round Nose New, Sig "Premium" 365, some odd Freedom that I didn't realize was Nickle  :-\, and some HUSH Subsonic 147gr. Got to say, it really really liked the 147gr subsonic stuff. Smooth and straight. Yummm!

Before I took it to the range I did so some minor mods to it. Installed a #14 recoil spring. And a different hammer spring. As for racking, that #14 has made one HUGE difference. Along with the lighter hammer spring, these old hands had absolutely NO problem racking the slide. Which, quite honestly, could be quite painful before. And the pistol didn't seem to mind, as it ate all the oddities I threw at it. Quite happy. Oh, I also put on a set of TruGlo night sights. That was a fun bit of afternoon. But they are in, and seemed to be aligned properly. Quite happy with that, as well.

Here's a few pics, just for grins.

Glad to hear that you got it ticking. May it run flawlessly.

Thank you for the pics.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Weeeellllll, maybe not  ;D I'm going to put in a different trigger profile. And then that is it! BTW, you were right about the RS and HS replacements being enough to lighten the DA on this bug. It's pretty sweet. I don't have a device to measure it. So, I'm just going to say it's "well below factory!" ...  8) Probably will not put the lighter trigger spring in. I'm good with it all as is. Except I want a shiney trigger.

CGW Old Style Trigger. A few comments on the installation. The OEM pin took two He-Man hits with my starter punch and came right out. Captured the spring just fine. The trigger seemed to be sort of stuck, until I put the hammer at half cock. Then it came up enough to push the pin out, new trigger on, replaced the pin and put 'er back in. Now, the fun part. That danged 'ol trigger return spring. Let me say, good thing I had TWO of them!! The hardest part of the whole process is getting the short tang behind the trigger. Thought I had it, didn't. And when I took it all apart a second time, well, I remember seeing the spring hit my shoulder. Hence, the good thing I had 2. Still took quite the effort to get that small tang settled. Then it all just fell in place. The floating trigger pin is awesome. Only needed one of those! ..  ;D

I carried it from the house to the bench, if that counts. ...  8) Ok, smart *ss answers aside, no. Not yet, anyway. I had it about a week before it went back to CZ for some help. And it's been back less than a week. I have been able to put about 300 rounds thru it. But with the trigger swap today I need to ensure I haven't foobared something before I carry it. It may go into rotation once I get a few more rounds thru it. But as of yet, no, it is not my carry weapon.

1791 Multi Fit Leather IWB. I forget which pistol I originally got it for. But the P01 seems to like it well enough.

Thank you  :D
Love this trigger, looks good.
So now... you've got the best CC handgun ever !  ;D 8) :P

Nice story about the spring, welcome to the club. There is no better lesson than do something stupid by yourself. I lost safety spring one day and had to use decocker for two weeks.. and that was good, otherwise I would never know how to shoot DA  ;D
