97B "E" Advice

I want to get a 97B with the CGW "E" modification.  I have no experience with CGW at this time.  Should I purchase the gun and send it to CGW for the modification or buy the already modified gun from CGW??  It looks like there wouldn't be much difference in cost.

My opinion... if there is little difference in cost, why wouldn't you just deal with CGW?

I have done both, have a 97bE and a 97bdE. If you don’t have the gun already or have a line on getting the gun for well under retail you would be better served to just order it directly from cajun gun works. They will do you right, you will be thrilled and outshoot guns that cost 3 times as much.

Not sure what price you found on a CZ 97. But, if it's $750, then you add $655 for the CGW "E" Conversion +$40 shipping both ways, you will spend $1,485. If you buy it one already completed from CGW, you pay $1,462 plus $40 shipping, equaling $1,502. Just buy it from CGW.

I had the great idea of buying the 97 locally and installing all of the parts myself, then have CGW just crown the barrel. Trust me - you do not want to do that.

Went a slightly different route, bought a 97 BD from a forum member, shot it a bit, then sprang for a Pro Package kit from CGW.  Did the install and other polishing myself, ended up with a pretty awesome shooter.  Still debating the bushing conversion, but this thing shoots so well now, I can't quite imagine it getting much better.  That said, I'm VERY mechanically inclined, and enjoy working on my own guns, if that doesn't describe you, stick with CGW.  Later.

I did the same Dave20319 but ended up sending it in for the barrel bushing job at cajun. It is very cool looking and very well done. It does seem more accurate, but havent had chance to shoot in competition yet.

I sent slide in for the bushing conversion, couldn't be more pleased with it. The rest of the enhancements to mine were performed at home with Cajun parts.

Bought this used blued 97b that was stock. Sent slide in for conversion after shooting it and replacing the sights. Also did the work on the frame while slide was at CGW. Love this pistol.
