A helpful tip?
« on: May 02, 2020, 02:07:41 PM »
I don't know if anyone else uses these but I found them by accident about a year or so ago. They've become one of my favorite maintenance tools in my arsenal. The brand name is Microbrush, as it states, and they can be found at most hobby stores. I mostly use these for precision oiling applications where you'd want to avoid dripping oil with a pin oiler. I confess I'm a chronic over-oiler. I can apply oil to them and finely paint oil anywhere I don't want a mess or in places I can't easily reach. They're also pliable so they can be bent and shaped somewhat as needed. I now use these instead of toothpicks when I want to apply paint to gun sites too. Hope this is helpful.

A great idea, I'm going to have to get a tube of those to keep next to the RamRodz bore swabs I use all the time. I see a ton of different brands on Amazon.

Gunnerdad80 - I think this is the second time we do something independently yet very similar...uncanny!!!

I found these at the hobby store primarily to re-paint the safety lever dimple on pre-B's...without getting paint under the lever  :D

Thanks for sharing!

That’s awesome! Man I’m so ready for a range trip. In the next week or so I need to swing by Patriot Defense in Kemah to pick up a new IFG Tanfoglio Stock I then stop by Lohman Gunsmithing in Houston to drop off an older Tanfoglio Combat pistol for refinishing. My brother lives in Houston too and sometimes we grab a bite when I’m in town. If time permits and you’re interested maybe we can meet up and you can join us.

Nice. I like that they're disposable. I had a few to paint some sights, and it looks like they're much less expensive when bought in bulk, like 500+. I paid like 5 bucks for 20 of them at Hobby Lobby and on Amazon they're 500 for 7 bucks!

Yeah, I just checked Hobby Lobby and they have 10-packs for $3.99 which is kind of steep.  I might try some if I can buy them in bulk.

I have been using these spiral tip foam swabs I bought off of Amazon for similar purposes.  200 for 10.99.

Thank you for the tip.  I had been using a tooth pic as well.  These are much better!
