Hi,

I just purchased a brand new Shadow 2 SAO.  I noticed the slide to frame fit is fairly loose.  It has some side to side movement, most noticeable towards the muzzle.  It will actually rattle some if I shake it.  I have a 2018 S2 that does not exhibit this issue.  I also have a plain jane 75B that is probably tighter than both of my S2's.  My question is, is some looseness normal for the S2?  If you have one, can you move your slide side to side?  Can it be tightened somehow?  I love the pistol ,but can't help being a bit disappointed.  Thanks for any info.

Welcome to the forum.  Sorry to hear this, but it's kind of luck of the draw with one that rattles and one that doesn't.  I have two Shadow 2's and one Shadow 2 Orange.  The two S'2s are pretty tight with no slide to frame rattle, and the S2 Orange is almost too tight. There's no cheap way to tighten yours up. However, I always wondered if peening the frame rail in several spots would take the play out, but I haven't read any success stories on that. I had three metal CZ's that I sold in the past because of loose slide to frame fit.  A loose slide to frame fit does not affect accuracy since you reacquire the sight after each shot. I didn't like it either, and it always bothered me.

A couple years ago, I called CZ about slide to frame fit on a stainless CZ75b, and he told me it would have to be over .030 play (if i remember correctly) for it to be replaced under warranty.  I think mine was .025, so I sold it. The other two were about .020, and those were sold too. The seven I have now are all under ~.012.

Thanks for the reply.  It's definitely a bummer on a new pistol, especially on a somewhat higher end model.  I might call CZ and see what they say, but I'm not expecting they will do anything for me.  I did think about selling or trading it off, but it's a tough call because I like everything else about it.  But I'm not sure if my OCD will allow me just live with it.

I just checked my shadow 2 and it doesnt move at all. I guess I got lucky.  My p10f on the other hand shakes a lot but it's still accurate.

Have a 2017 (black), 2018 (black blue), and a 2020 (optics ready), none of them have any play

I have a new Shadow 2 SAO and it doesn't feel like it has much if any play to it at all.

I just checked mine, and the play is minimal.
If I get a chance I'll get out my dial indicator and take a measurement, but until then it feels fine to me.
