Recommendations for pin and weld service?
« on: May 22, 2020, 04:03:28 PM »
I'm looking at Adco and Rifle Gear, but they seem to be focused on AR15s. I'm going to email them, but in the mean time does anyone have any gunsmith recommendations for having a 14" Bren 2 barrel pinned and welded?

I think you will need to indicate where you are located if you are looking for a shop to do the work near you.

I'm in Missouri. While I'd prefer a nearby shop, I'm willing to ship.

Is pinning required where you are?

Pinning is not required here, I just want to avoid SBRing.

I appreciate the video on the process, but I don't have access to the tools I'd need or the time.

Ahh! Understood. Any gunsmith should be able to at least perform the mechanical work if not the actual welding.
I have done the work myself several times on AR's and taken the barrel assembly to a shop that does precision TIG welding.

I know reputable guys who exclusively on barrels(cut, re-thread, and pin & weld), especially for FN SCAR-16/17, and CZ Brens(805 & 2). All depends your budget and your willingness to wait according to each their current lead times. There are Jarod Legsdin(Parker Mountain Machine, Taylor Pickerell(GunNutIndustries), Morgan(Class 3 Machining), D. Wilson(d.wilson mfg). All which who can be found and see their work on Facebook and Instagram. I personally had experience with Morgan because his pricing and lead times were a better a value at the time when I needed some barrel work done.

I'm so impressed with Preston Precision since receiving the bottom Bren 2S rail from him, I'm going to shoot him an email now.
