CZ527 for whitetail this year!
« on: May 23, 2020, 08:43:33 PM »
I am looking forward to the fall when I take my 527 to the woods. Got big woods just north of my house and think the little carbine will be great for tracking and stalking. Should be nice from the tree saddle, too. The iron sights are great out to 100 yards.

This is a sweet rifle!

Yes they certainly are sweet. What caliber is yours?
It's not saving any water if you have to flush it over and over....

7.62 x 39. I really love this little gem of a rifle.
Am an iron sights guy who bowhunts with a recurve and my CZ527 is going to see some up-close action in the big woods where I live.

They have the kind of sights that I wished vintage lever guns had. I cant use irons very well anymore, so mine is scoped with a little 2x7. Its the same caliber as yours and has worked well for me on deer and hogs, if you don't push the range too far. You're going to enjoy hunting with it!

I do a lot of stalking hunts with my 527 in 7.62x39, it's my primary feral hog and pest animal rifle. The iron sights are very good, but as I've gotten older, I don't pick them up as well as I used to.  I've gone to a fixed 4x Weaver Classic scope. Keep your shots under 150 yards, ideally under 120 and you'll get very good results. The load I hunt with is more or less a duplicate of the Hornady SST loading, 123gr SST at 2340fps, effective on a deer or hog out to 150 yards. Too much energy loss much past that range for a certain clean kill.

My plan is to keep it under 100 yards. Hopefully much less. I like it very close. Makes the hunt harder, but the adrenaline greater.

question about the 527 stock
« Reply #6 on: January 16, 2021, 08:57:45 PM »
i have a 550 in .416 Rigby. i replaced the American stock with a hogback or Euro or Bavarian or whatever you call it from a Brno 602.
Ive noticed that the pic of the 527 seems to show a stock with more drop than the American. I'm interested in having a light stalking type rifle with a stock similiar to the .416. Am i right about the 527 stock?
