Sarsilmaz/SAR USA SAR9
« on: July 03, 2020, 04:21:36 PM »
A couple weeks ago I purchased two SAR9's, one black and one stainless, and was gonna decide which one I wanted to keep and sell the other. The reviews on this gun are consistently good and I can't resist good guns under $400. 8)  After receiving them my in-laws mentioned they were looking for a 9mm home defense gun. Turns out we both wanted the black one but I sold it to them and the opportunity arose to make a little money on the stainless so I sold it too. My father-in-law asked me to clean and test fire his so I did and IMMEDIATELY regretted selling it. It's a freakin sweet shooter and easy to get back on target fast. To say the grip is comfortable is an understatement. It sits so low in the hand which really helped with the recoil. In fact, I liked it so much I ended up buying another all black model. :o ;D 8)  So far holster options are slim but I don't plan on carrying it. It'll probably be for a spare home defense or truck gun. My current home defense gun is a Sarsilmaz/SAR USA CM9 Gen2 which also has a really comfortable grip. Whoever designed the grip on these guns must have hands identical to mine.

These are the two I sold. I'm currently waiting to receive mine. As of this post I couldn't find this gun anywhere except Gunbroker, and I looked pretty hard.

My current home defense pistol.

My LGS recently got in a SS one that he's asking $330 for. I was seriously considering taking a hard look at it and then saw this thread. I was really looking for a now unobtanium Ruger SR9 in stainless and this really seems like it might be a good alternative. I primarily would want it for the range and maybe as a HD and/or truck gun occasionally.

Couple questions... I see conflicting reviews, some saying the magazines are 17 round capacity and others saying they are 15? Many people equate them to be a cross between a Glock 17 and an H&K. It appears to have the "1911" grip angle rather than one similar to the Glock?

Thanks for the post, have fun and be safe!

The first of the imports had magazines stamped for 15 rounds but would fit 17 rounds with some reports of occasional failures to feed when loaded with 17 rounds. Now all the current imports are stamped 17 rounds and are good to go. The upper is very close to a Glock 17 and if you look at the grip on an HK VP9 compared to the SAR9 they are very similar. I paid $330 for mine but with shipping and FFL fee it’ll be just under $380. But with the profit I made from that SS model my total cost is about $290. ;)

I've looked at these guns (including the SAR 9X Platinum model) and just can't say "yes" without knowing what sights can be put on it.  At first glance the front sight post looks like it's part of the slide, but apparently there's a way to change it from the underside portion of the slide?  I was hoping it basically cloned Glock's sights as well as the slide, but I'm not sure what kind of sights it uses and if it's proprietary I'm just gonna have to say no.  Aside from the sights, the trigger ain't that great either, but supposedly it needs a break-in period.

Gunnerdad80, did you have a chance to visit Turkey within last 5 years?

No. Only place I’ve been outside of the United States is Mexico.

The trigger on mine was pretty gritty and the slide lock was pretty stiff but after about a 100 rounds the trigger cleaned up decent and now I can release the slide with one thumb instead of two.

Have you found any other sight options?  I know the 9X version has a weird optic mounting system right to the slide, but I don't want to be stuck with the sights they provide.

I’ve read in a couple articles that the front sight is basically Glock but I haven’t seen real proof of it. I haven’t seen anything on the rear site.

Kayin:
the front sight is removable just like a Glock

I scraped the white paint out of the factory sights and painted them with Testors fluorescent yellow and red enamel. Mine is just a truck/woods gun though.

Ran one for a while. Glock 20 ss guide rod allows you to tune recoil springs. .25 glock trigger jib works wonders.

You’re saying the Glock 20 guide rod fits the SAR9?
