Magazine questions
« on: July 03, 2020, 10:18:05 PM »
Had a couple jams today and I suspect the cheap Wolf steel case ammo, but looking at the magazine,  when I hold the loaded magazine and just push a round out with my thumb, it gets caught on the lip of the case like this:

That bullet is stuck there until I push up to release it from the lip.

I also see that the lip of the magazine looks rough, like this:

Normal?

I also see magazines for sale at   http://jesticearms.com/CZ-82-83-Mag-9x18-Makarov-380-CZ82-13rd-Magazine for $19.99 + $6.99 shipping and they are the real ones, not the fake  "cz mfg" garbage

I believe Jestice is currently out of stock on them, but the ones they sell are the real deal, I have bought from them before and was very happy with what I bought.

Yup. I just checked the site and it says "Out of stock" clearly.

Some reputable manufacturer could make a killing on repro mags, even with a licensing fee to CZ. They'd be sold as fast as they could be made and shipped.

If CZ-USA isn't going to sell them, they should just let Mec-Gar sell them under their brand. The genuine factory mags are just as good as the surplus vz 82 mags, just more expensive.

I just dropped them a line to ask if they would. It never hurts to ask. I'll let y'all know if I hear back.

It was my standard practice that any time I needed a small part or 2 from CZ-USA, I'd add in a vz82/CZ83 9x18mm or a CZ83 7.65mm magazine. They weren't inexpensive, but they are reliable and worth the cost.

Any thoughts on the original question of rounds getting hung on the lip of the magazine?

do the rounds feed when the mag is in the pistol? I've never had a feed issue with the real CZ mags (surplus or recent CZ-USA). My usual range ammo is Silver Bear and defensive ammo is Hornady Critical Defense.

CZ USA no longer makes or imports CZ 82/83 mags, AFAIK.

I assume you have taken it apart for a cleaning and lubing, other than that maybe a spring replacement could be needed.

The magazine was still packed with cosmoline grease!  All cleaned up and oiled, now.  Thanks for the heads up.
