Is the Kadet Kit worth it?
« on: July 09, 2020, 01:57:27 PM »
The CZ-75 Kadet kit seems like a good idea on paper, but usually the price seems to be around the $400 mark. Which seems a bit high for just a conversion kit 22LR. And this was before the virus and riot buying. Since Is it worth getting a kadet kit (or any 22LR conversion kit for that matter) to use as a trainer pistol with the same controls, grip and manual of arms?

Not "just a conversion kit"
Could very well be THE most accurate .22lr Conversion Kit on the market today
And might just turn-out to be, the most accurate Handgun you'll ever own
Once you get your KADET set-up properly, on your Host Frame of choice, like a lot of KADET Owners, you'll want to leave it set-up as a permanent .22lr Pistol
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

That is really interesting. I might have to check one out soon. Funds permitting. Lol

Got one recently but have yet to use it. Figure it is helpful to use as a training tool and ammo is cheaper too.  YMMV.
WTB PM if you got any for sale:
CZ 75 SHORT RAIL (factory blued)
CZ 75 PRE-B (factory blued).

You will not find purposely built 22LR in this price range that would compare to Kadet in accuracy. My precision match guns that overshot Kadets (I have 3 Kadets and 8 other 22LR pistols) are at least twice more expensive and Kadet is my backup match gun. When I go practice with my CZ pistols, two Kadets (One with Irons and one with RDS) are always in the same range bag and i start practice with them to warm up. Later switch to Centerfire uppers to continue. I highly recommend to all my shooting friends who are buying CZs in 9mm or 40sw, to get Kadet kit right from the start. They do and very happy with this setup.

I’ve got a kadet Kit for my P07.

Fortunately they go for a bit less than some other models. It’s great training aid, accurate. well made. and totally reliable.

I consider it to be worth more than I paid for it.

Just got a Shadow 2 Kadet top end for my SP-01 manual safety frame. I had to shave some material off to fit it to the frame. I have not shot it yet. Tomorrow at the earliest.

I’m hoping it’ll be as good as others are experiencing. Maybe I don’t have to have that S&W Model 41 after all[emoji4]

OP, i think it depends on how much .22 you plan on shooting. I picked up my Kadet kit a long while back out of curiosity. When i shoot it alone it is nice to avoid picking up my brass. The Kadets are know to require some tweaking in some cases to get things running reliably, especially with some types of ammo. Mine has proven to be plenty accurate when i am doing my part.

Let it be know that he orignal Kadet kit for the 75s are allot different from the newer 22LR slides for the Omega models and the Shadow 2. The orignal Kadet kit for the 75s has a fixed barrel and a steel slide. The newer options for the other models has a tilting barrel and an aluminum slide. While i am not clear on this, they may be different animals.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

S&W Model 41 and variety of 1911s were the most known to Americans gun icons and accuracy benchmarks for a long time. Last few decades its not the case anymore and they have more of the sentimental value then a real competition to a modern firearms in my opinion. Especially sporting firearms.

Except for the Omega(s), that ONLY work on the KADET 2s

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YY6wwAhvirY&list=PLuVUSZlI39Ro7DR8TGzxuAg97WlBAVklE

There are the CZ75 KADET(s)
The Slides on the CZ75 KADET (ONE) and CZ75 KADET 2 are of a two piece, steel design:
First there's Main Slide Body, with the Sights and Barrel fixed to it and becomes "pinned" to the Lower when mounted
And the moving Slide or "Bolt" that cycles much like the Browning Buckmark, Colt Woodsman, Ruger Mark Series and the S&W 41
Also, their Magazines have a two piece steel Tube Body with a Plastic Base

The other, newer style KADETs, all have a one piece, Alloy Slide and separate Barrel
These Conversions cycle and function just like any standard Semi-Auto Upper
They consist of the P-07, the P-09, Shadow 2 and the SP-01 KADETs
All of these Kits are Model specific, and use a Model specific, Polymer Magazine
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Was the Kadet kit solely designed for the CZ-75B/BD? Is that why there were fitting issues?

Kadet and Kadet 2 works on SP01 also. Meaning SP01, Sp01 Shadow and SP01 Tactical. Also 75 SA. Kadet doesn't work on Omega series, Kadet 2 does.
Fitting isn't really an issue, not very complicated.

Original Kadet and Kadet 2 - yes. Later models expand to more frames.
Fitting is not the issue, but rather design feature to adapt it to variation of CZ75 frames. There is a little extra metal in a key areas (to remove) to get a tight fit to your specific frame. Nothing more then a few strokes with a file or stone.

I was one of those who worried about fitting the Kadet 2 kit to my SP-01 (manual safety). Now CZ sells the new model specific Kadet kits: Shadow 2, SP-01, P-09 and P-07, in addition to the latest Kadet II. I think CZ sells a P-07 Kadet, not a kit but a whole firearm but only in Europe.

Of course, stupid me, I go and buy a Shadow 2 kit instead of an SP-01 kit. I had to take off quite a bit of material to fit it to my frame.

But it was all worth the effort. First time at the range using Federal AM22 and the standard recoil spring, I was grinning from ear to ear. :) :) :)

All good, Ed

Do you have to change out your recoil springs with the Kadet 22 kits?
