Hello! This is my first post here. I hope you're all staying healthy and in good spirits during this odd time. Also, if there's a better place for me to post this, let me know!
I have a CZ 75B Omega (2020 production). I, like most, disliked the creepy SA and brutal DA. I installed the 75700 CGW kit which replaces the hammer and hammer spring, lifter, DA roller, disconnector, firing pin and firing pin spring, sear spring, trigger return spring, and I think that's it. The issue I'm having with it is...bizarre.
DA:
It is absolutely perfect no matter how I hold the pistol. Couldn't be happier.
SA (while holding the pistol sideways (both right-side-up and left-side-up) and upside down):
It is absolutely perfect and couldn't be happier.
SA (while holding the pistol normally):
I pull the trigger and the hammer drops a couple millimeters and stops. I pull the trigger a little harder and the hammer drops all the way.
I have made sure the trigger bar support spring is fully seated within the trigger bar groove. I have made sure everything is as tight as possible. I have tried dry firing many times to see if it works itself out. I have emailed David at CGW. I have stared as closely as possible at the components to see if when I rotate the pistol sideways anything shifts - I can't detect anything. I have made sure the trigger bar is not bent at all. I have removed and replaced everything at least 5 times to see if it changes. I have watched a few different videos to make sure I have the disconnector in the right position when putting the hammer and strut in place.
For the life of me I cannot understand why it would matter whether I am holding the pistol sideways or not. Even upside down it works perfectly. It is absolutely perfect UNLESS I hold the pistol in the standard, upright position.
Does anyone have any ideas?
EDIT:
TAKE EVERYTHING I’M ABOUT TO SAY WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. David explained everything, but I don’t trust my interpretation and I’d hate to say something that David didn’t actually say/mean. But to the best of my knowledge, this is what he thought:
David suspects the DA roller is the issue. The Omega system is sloppy by design and every piece depends on the size of the next piece. Unlike the old pistols where everything was tight, Omegas have a lot of slop. During testing, if something doesn’t function, and depending on the issue, CZ might try a different size roller, and most of the rollers fall within a certain diameter. However, sometimes the roller that works falls outside that normal range. Obviously CGW cannot know your size roller, so they came up with a size that almost always works, and if it doesn’t, a custom roller can be cut.
Specific to my case, David said he suspects the roller he sent me is smaller than my stock roller. He also said I could test whether this is the issue by removing the slide, placing my left thumb on the trigger bar with a little pressure downward, and fire in SA. If that works, it’s probably the roller. This part is a bit beyond my knowledge and I’m not sure I fully understood, but he thinks the roller is making the pistol switch to DA, and that the roller makes sure the trigger bar doesn’t catch on the disconnector, which is happening to me. He also said the trigger bars are stamped and sometimes not perfectly flat.
Even more specifically, he said to FIRST measure the stock roller. If it is .24 diameter, then polish it and use it. The ones CGW sends are .220 which is usually a good average. He said if the stock roller is .222 and still doesn’t work, he can cut me a .225. But he told me to measure the stock roller and make sure it is bigger than .220.
I’m going to give this all a shot and update you guys.
EDIT 2:
Tried the above. Didnt work. Replaced the CGW disconnector with the stock disconnector and it works perfectly. So basically I installed the 75700 kit completely with the exception of the disconnector.
