Shadow 2 with red dot
« on: September 01, 2020, 07:16:51 PM »
Anyone running a red dot on their shadow 2 feel like it made them shoot the gun more accurate? I’m currently trying to decide if I should have mine milled for a rmr or leave it alone and run it with factory sights.

I just got my red dot milled shadow 2 slide setup from czc. I still have my factory slide.  I will be going to the range on the 19th and swap them out doing drills etc and see if I can conclude anything.

I can tell you my follow up shot is definitely improved.  As far as accuracy not sure since the longer I hold the aim the straighter it shoots these things are lasers for someone like me.  But seeing that dot on target is way faster than lining up sights.

I also have a czc 1911 style bushing on there so I might install a 10x bushing on the stock slide so ots apple's to apple's.

My shadow was milled by Primary Machine before USPSA increase the weight limit to 59 oz. I shoot mine in Carry Optics division of USPSA. It’s fun to shoot since I can hardly see the front sight without my mono vision glasses.

Now I can use my Oakley prizm polarized sunglasses shooting my shadow 2 with a red dot.

I have one on a Glock and seemed to help me some but the way the shadow shoots I was curious how much it would help me improve.

I had my Shadow 2 milled for a SRO red dot.  The gun is inherently accurate but due to aging eyes I’m not as accurate as I used to be with iron sights.  So yes, the dot does help.

My S2 are both milled by CZC for their RDS plate.  As I get older and have a harder time seeing the front sight, Red Dots are getting put on more and more of my guns.

I'm more accurate with the dot because I can actually see the sight. For an iron sights gun, if its a bright fiber optic front, then I'm just as accurate because I can actually aim properly.

The dot doesn't make the gun or the shooter more accurate, it just makes it easier to get good sight acquisition.

I'm using the Henning Group red dot mount in my rear dovetail.  It sits plenty low enough, is only $70, and doesn't permanently modify the slide.

Also, it's made of steel but lightweight and the part that sits in the dovetail isn't any wider than the dovetail (with some other brands, the part that sits in the dovetail is as wide as the part the red dot sits on).

Ignore the white goop in the dovetail, I used white lithium grease to ease installation of the mount and it's a bear to get it all out.

From where did you purchase the dovetail adapter for the shadow 2?  May I also ask where you got that straight trigger, and ask do you like it?

I got it here:    https://www.henningshop.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=1416514&CAT=10024

They've been on constant backorder.  The first one I ordered took 6-8 weeks to get.  I recently ordered a second one for my Kadet conversion and they are saying it will probably take 4-8 weeks.

I researched probably all of them:

I think the Henning is the best for the reasons I stated in my last post.  The Shield Sights one is pretty cool but I didn't want a Shield Red Dot, so it's useless to me.

I like that! May look into that here soon. I had just about made my mind up on going with a red dot and then I ran across a dan Wesson specialist that I’d been wanting. Lol

The trigger is CGW.
