Sar K12
« on: September 04, 2020, 07:41:10 PM »
What a day, after searching for a few weeks for a Sar K12, I found one on all places, Gun broker for just over 650.00 delivered to my FFL. As we all know with the state we are in the prices are going to continue to climb so I did a buy now option. I also found the place called Lucky Snipe that had K12 mags in stock. Very surprised about that too.
I'll post pics and a review once I get them both, next week. :)

Cheers

Well I got my Sar K12 in today, picked her up on the way to work.  So these pictures are from my work parking lot in my truck. :o
The K12 feel very very solid in the hands and the workmanship is spot on, the frame to slide interface is 100% slope free.
No machine marks either in the frame or slide. I was concerned with the grip girth, but it isn't to bad for my size 8-9 hands.
No problem reaching the trigger.  It's no where close to my 10mm double stack 1911, so at the moment I wont be looking for any new grips, these should work for me.
The weight is noticeable but not off the charts very doable and very well balanced IMHO. I will need to do something with at least the front sight
so I can pick it up easier.  I could install a fiber optic, but thats further down the road.
The overall feel, weight and balance honestly reminds me of my Sig 226 X-Five.
My spare mags that I mentioned on the top post already came in so I have 4 mags now and plan on doing some target shoot this weekend to see how she does.
Right now I'm very impressed with the Sar K-15, Very Solid.

Cheers
Ron

Very nice and great buy too. I really like the graphite grey grips over the silver or off-white versions I’ve seen. I actually held that exact same gun at a pawn shop while vacationing in Canyon Lake, Texas a few weeks ago. I can’t resist pawn shops, gun stores, flea markets and junkyards.  ;D But anyway, that’s a really hefty, solid gun. They were asking $749.99 though so I passed on it. Enjoy it. Let us know how it shoots.

GD ...out of curiosity what would it have taken to get you to buy the gun in Canyon Lake?

749 would have put it in my safe if it was NIB

I don’t think $749 is completely outrageous for what you get. Personally, I’m just not interested in it enough to spend that much coin for it. Maybe if I shot competitively though. Still a cool package regardless.

Hi,

I got my K-12 two weeks ago, and I am happy with it, but it feels the quality if lower than the original made in Turkey guns.
How do you think they compare?

Thank you

Which original made in Turkey guns are you comparing the quality with?  At least with the K12, your front sight won't fall off like the SAR 2000.

The sights and the trigger on the K12 are a good example of cheapening. They feel like cheaply spray painted.
My rear sight already looks miserable and slightly scratched. I have shot the gun only twice and I did use it to crack coconuts.

The same feeling extends to the magazine base pads.

If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.

In this video, it was before I shot 500 rounds. The trigger was a bit rough and at 4.5LBS not nearly as nice as the Shadow 2 with 5000 rounds and polished twice. At the time I liked to K12 looks but wasn't impressed. Being a quadriplegic, I cannot pull a trigger with my right hand above 4LBS. After 500 rounds it was around 3LBS to my surprise. This video is a bit negative.

Here is my 3rd and last video of the SAR K12 sport. This trigger is incredible.

Mine would accept CZ75/SP-01/S2 mags when the front lip is shaved to clear the magwell.
