CZ Teal shotgun hard to open
« on: September 05, 2020, 12:04:05 PM »
I purchased this shotgun from Cabela's for my daughter. After firing both barrels it is extremely hard to open. I have lubed all the points and took out ejectors and cleaned. Has anyone else had this problem? She loves the gun but it is frustrating when she takes it dove hunting. I have read some comments saying it might be the shells we are using but you can dry fire both barrels and it will be just as hard to break open.

Contacted CZ customer support and they told me to send the gun back to them. Apparently the firing pins are hanging up and they have seen this problem. Will let you know how this goes.

Sent the gun back to CZ and had it back in about 10 days. Only problem was they didn't do anything to correct the issue. Said it was normal operation of gun. I took it to my local gunsmith and his opinion was that he could make it better. I left the gun with him and we will see. Will let you know the outcome. In reference to CZ when they sent the gun back they were supposed to send tracking information. That did not happen. The gun was delivered to my house and just sat on my front porch. Good thing no porch pirates were around.

They come stiff to open and close, and when you open them your also resetting the hammers.  I'd put 500 rounds through it and see what's it's like when it's broken-in a little.

It is normal on those. Most of the CZ break action shotguns are extremely tight when new. They'll break in pretty nicely after shooting for awhile.

I just bought a CZ Bobwhite, it was very hard to open. I greased it up really well, it seems to be better. It had no grease on it, it was lightly oiled only. My Browning OU and my Beretta OU was almost as hard to open as my Bobwhite, but a little grease fixed them up. My Beretta has a little over 1000 rounds through it, its still tough to open. It is a sign of a new gun not to just pop open like you see when Olympic skeet shooters do after each time they reload. Hope your openings are easier to you. Any updates on what is happening with your gun?

Sorry for the delay. Nothing much has changed on the gun. I now use it when I take my daughter dove hunting as she can not open it very easy. She doesn't mind though she gets to use my Browning. However on one particular hunt I made sure to clean the gun and grease really well. After about an hour into the hunt and firing maybe a box of shells the gun would not break open. I tried everything and I am no small person. I had to set the gun down and let it cool off for about 10 minutes and then was able to break  open and continue shooting. Its a shame this happens on this gun because I really like how it swings and feels. I hope that this gets better but only time will tell.
