Newbie with P10C ?

Little history. Never had the handgun addiction until recent times, blame it on Covid. Own tons of rifles and shotguns so not a true rookie and did have my one and only SW 357 six shooter. Got pistols in my veins now and have been shooting my new CZ TSO, CZ P10c and a STI/Staccato C2 Duo. Got my wife a Glock 19 which I have shot a lot as well. Coming from rifles and shotguns working a safety is second nature and didn't think I would care for a striker fired gun until I shot the Glock. After researching I went with the P10c for the better factory trigger and because I love the CZ TSO. Seems like everywhere I looked among other things like accuracy it is all about the trigger and the short reset so I asked why is that important? Read all about shooting off the reset once the sights get back on target so I have been working on that.

In any event I have tried to do it and can do it well with the Glock, Staccato, and P10c BUT every now and again I get an unintended second with the P10c. I have not tried it with the TSO as I think if I breath on it she will go off. It seems with the P10c it is almost like the 4 to 5# trigger goes to 2# if you shoot it right after reset. I gotta be doing something wrong but it has me worried not at the range but if I had to shoot off it in a real situation. I don't feel like I am putting the same pull on the trigger as when I break the first shot. Anybody else get a surprise shot shooting off the reset? It only happens with the P10c and the Staccato actually has a lighter trigger.

If you'll do some reading and investigation within this Forum you may find...

• CZ pistols typically require a break-in period of several hundred rounds. Things often improve after that time. Give it time.

• Most P10 owners will install a trigger kit from Cajun Gun Works (a forum sponsor) or HBI to shorten and sharpen the trigger break. These kits include the physical trigger and numerous springs. Addition of the kit also allows polishing key areas.

• Lots of users will also add the CGW firing pin/ striker. The polished sear area changes the trigger pull and reset characteristics favorably. (But some of that polishing will also naturally occur during the first 1000 rounds, or can be manually added by you.)

• There are multiple (3 or 4) versions of the P10. Glock makes a big deal of things with their "Gen" labels; CZ does not. CZ makes lots of tiny, but significant changes on the fly. So it's important to first identify exactly which version you have before doing your research. The SKU number off your box will help in this. Not all the hints talked about on this Forum will impact your specific version. So some discussions may simply not apply to your gun.

Sounds lke you may not be used to the reset on the trigger. I have never had this happen to me except with the Walther PPQ. I would shoot and release the triger to reset and due to how light the trigger was and how short the reset was, I would fire my second shot when not totally ready.

Thanks, I got the HBI trigger coming and really want the CGW firing pin/striker but they are out of stock. Mine is an OR version so it should be the latest gen. Has the reversible mag release instead of the sometimes problematic ambi which I think says it is their latest.

You are probably right. I am going to slow it down until I have it etched in my brain on when to squeeze the second out.
