Shadow 2 extended safety, right side

I would like to hear from left handed shooters who have experience installing and using the CZ Custom Shadow 2 extended safety, right side.

Was the install straight forward, and how do you like it compared to the factory safety?

   It looks like if you buy this set, it is already fitted (one side to the other). If this is the case it should be a drop in part. I am interested to hear if another forum member can confirm if these come already fitted.

   Fitting aside, installation can be straight forward. Removing the Hammer Spring first can make things easier by eliminating the force of the Hammer on the Sear Cage. After that, you lift the forward leg of the Sear Spring up and out of the slot in the Left side safety lever. You can trap the Sear Leg with the plastic tube from a compressed air can or a WD40 can. This can help you get control of it so that you can swing it up and out of the way. Then you slide out the Left side safety lever and rotate and remove the Right side safety lever. Removing the Right side safety lever will free the Sear Cage. This is because the Sear Cage is retained into the frame by the safety levers. While holding the Sear Cage in place, you can now install the replacement Right side safety lever, it should go in at an angle and rotate into place. Once the Right side is installed you can install the Left side by retracting the left side safety detent with a probe/pick and slide the Left side lever into place. You then drop the Sear Leg Back into the slot in the new safety lever shaft to retain the safety levers.

Im a lefty with a new S2O.  I'm curious if anyone is even using the safety in competition.  Is there a reason not to just put the small safety levers on both sides?

Some folks like to use the lager safety levers as a thumb rest.

Tok, great advice/recommendation to use a plastic tube from a compressed air can/WD 40 on the sear spring leg for control when lifting it up off the Left side safety lever.  I always wrestle with that and the sear spring leg never wants to stay lifted up.

   Gladly, i believe that i picked that up here on the forums. If you are talking apart allot of CZ you can upgrade to a metal tube so that it will not wear out but, the plastic ones work fine and you can cut them down if they get damaged from use. Bending the very end of the Sear Spring leg up and to the right a bit can make it so that you can slip the tube onto it while it is still in the Safety shaft slot. This can eliminate the need to lift the Sear leg up with another tool so that you can get the tube onto it.

I use one of my smaller diameter roll pin punch to keep the sear cage in place while inserting the left side part of the safety. The roll pin punch has a round tip and helps in “lifting” up the spring out of the way.

Makes for an easy-leash installation.

I filed a small notch in the sear cage and use a dental pick to move the sear spring to that notch and out of the way.

I'm a lefty. Got the set with right extended lever from Ben Stoeger. Used just the right side. No modifications were required.
