Cz75 P01 Help me love this piece of junk!
« on: November 10, 2020, 09:10:25 AM »
Now that I have your attention, maybe someone knowledgeable could help me. [emoji1787]
Honestly though, I have many pistols and always wanted a cz 75. Well I pulled the trigger so to speak and bought one. Here's my issue..
This thing is all over the target! Shooting at around 15 yards, sometimes I'm lucky to hit the paper. Before the jokes start pouring in, I'm a decent shot. I can set a bottle cap on top of a log at the same distance and put a round through it consistently with my 1911. Even my subcompact springfield xd puts out groups much tighter than this thing. I have about 600 rounds through it. Any suggestions? I love this thing aside from the fact I can't shoot tight groups through it.
Any suggestions?

Tha doesn't sound like typical CZ.  If new, I would get a hold of CZ and see if they will look at it.

I agree.  CZ customer service is outstanding.  They should be able to help you out.

The best suggestion is PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE  ;)

First of all.. if you shot subcompact SA XD... this one is a completely different tool and you cannot just jump from it to CZ and shoot dead center. You will have to treat it closer to 1911...however you still need to adjust yourself to CZ.
I wasn't joking with 3 x "practice" slogan. It really works. I personally switched to CZ P-01 shooting PPQ and double stack 1911 previously. Same story, same problem, same lack of accuracy.
Just be patient, dry fire, do "trigger finger and muzzle discipline" drills. Give yourself 1 month.  :) At least it worked for me  8)

And...DO NOT BLAME THE TOOL  ;)

If you think so... ask fe. RSO to shoot your CZ and then decide whose the fault is...

As far as the xd is concerned,  I actually haven't shot that pistol for quite some time and was just referencing it to make a point on accuracy.  I'm not blaming the gun. The title was to get folks attention. I'm looking for solutions to what I may be doing wrong (if anything). Ill actually be shooting it once again today and will focus on my sight picture, hold of the weapon, and trigger pull. I can say I do dislike the trigger.  The curve of this thing digs into my finger too much.  Got a recommendation on a replacement? I know cajun gun works has a few but not sure which to get. Not using this for competition or anything like that just normal everyday carry is what I'd like to us it for. Maybe its just the trigger thats making my rounds inconsistent down range? Either way, ill be at it again later on tonight. We'll see what happens.

I know that YOU don't blame it.. the OTHERS are looking for wrong solution....  ;D ;)
I'm guessing you bought NOT OMEGA then... Yeah.. I hate "C shaped" trigger...
And this is something you can consider then:
CGW - “Old Style” Trigger.

Take also a look at the thread that shows how to significantly improve handgun with simple polishing.

(it's for Omega variation, but you will figure out the differences)

My guess: different gun, trigger in a different spot, your finger is at a different angle and pulling in a different direction. You're upsetting the gun when you shoot without realizing it. And the faster you shoot the worse it gets.

Try some supported, super slow fire... The kind that surprises you when the gun goes off, and see what kind of groups it holds.  If they're good then you know it's you! (and I'm right :))

I have done most of the mods that "jurek" refers to in reply #7 on my CZ75 P01 and Shadow 2 and it made a big difference. I did not replace the hammer assembly on mine. I would also recommend when shooting a new gun, no matter how much trigger time you have, to start at 5 yds. and do a 5 shot group to get the feel of the gun, move a yard back and repeat, move another yard back and repeat. Do this until you reach your limits of acceptable accuracy. This should build your confidence with your new gun and get you a bit more familiar with it.

Let us know how your are doing and ask questions as there is a lot of knowledgeable members in this group.

Thanks for the help Bob...plans did not work out to go shooting today as my grandmother was taken to the hospital. But as soon as I can, I will be trying various things that you guys have suggested.  Looking forward to shooting it again.
