2 new cz's for my collection
« on: November 20, 2020, 03:39:10 PM »
Ive had a Shadow 2 for a year+ now. Love it. I cant imagine a better CZ. So, when i heard about the A01-ld i decided to see if there really is better out there. While researching I kept seeing it compared to the TSO and i found a TSO at good price, so i grabbed one too!. Just got them, so i havent shot them yet, but the S2 still feels best in my hand w/ the A01 being 2nd best. Trigger on the A01 seem to have 2 stages and surprises me. A light take up, then you feel another different weight take up and then the snap. Not what i expected. The TSO has the best trigger of the 3 easily. Its very interesting to compare 3 guns that at a glance look the same. You notice nothing is really the same on them when you look in fine detail. Im looking to get into competitive shooting and im not sure which one ill choose. Ive got the holster and 4 mag pouch already for the S2.

The bull barrel is crazy cool.

The A01 came with a snap cap round. Can i damage any of the guns dry firing them? ive dry fired the S2 thousands of times while practice drawing. Want to make sure the A01 isnt different and more fragile?

Very cool, hope you get some good trigger time with your new acquisitions soon.

I’ve looked at the AO-1 and while I like the idea of the bull barrel I’m not sure I’m ready to move away from the Shadow 2 platform since I have so much invested in those.  What I have considered is the Bull Shadow upper for my S2’s if I ever need a new top end.  Just time and money, right?

What kind of competition shooting?  If USPSA or 3-gun, any of those ought to do you.  AO-1 or Shadow 2 for USPSA’s Production Division. You didn't mention which caliber your TSO is, but it’s a good fit for USPSA’s Limited division.  Or any of the 3 will fit into a couple divisions in 3-gun.  Not sure about IDPA but don’t think any of the three meet their division requirements due to weight or size of the TSO.

I shoot my Shadow 2 in USPSA Carry Optics division, having had them milled to accept the Trijicon SRO red dot.  Also shoot them in 3-gun’s Open or 2x4 Division.

Tso is 9mm.  The purpose for me was to have the softness shooting guns(i own a few .40's and dont want more) .I’ve gotta find some local shoots in SE WI . I’m also going to look for a league at the local indoor range

It's funny with the triggers. My first shadow 2 spoiled me. Picked up a TSO and loved it but S2 also felt best in my hand. TSO trigger was sweet but did have a slight 2nd stage to it  when really pulling slowly. Shadow 2 orange comes out and I pick one of those up, best trigger still. Ended up selling tso as didn't need it. I'll buy another TSO once CZ makes one upgraded like the S2 orange with that barrel bushing and new style front sight with no pin. My original shadow 2 is now a dedicated 22lr and works out perfect. S2O just blows my mind it's so sweet. Held and dry fired an A01. Eh it was nice but I wasn't blown away like the D20. Now if they made one stainless steel either matte or high polish I'd not be able to stop myself.

What didn’t you like about the tso?
Did you like the tso gas pedal?(it fits my grip perfect)
What does the s2o have extra? My s2 has a longer take up than my other 2 by far.
Do you dry fire your guns with out a snap cap?

I figure the a01 trigger will break in and improve.  Hk’s I own smooth out with age. Tight tolerances need time for surfaces to marry.  Shooting the a01 I’m sure is completely different than dry firing.

I’ve got a 1954 colt model 3-5-7 that’s got an even better trigger than the tso. Ha. Guns dangerous it’s so light. And it’s got carry wear.  High risk carry gun. Tso is my 2nd best trigger though. Amazing

Oh there wasn't anything I disliked with the TSO, just didn't need it and the S2O is a better pistol IMO. Just as tight or better slide to frame fit. Barrel bushing has zero play. My TSO had play but from what I've read they didn't fit the barrel to the bushing. The SA trigger on the S2O is IMO better. Not quite as light of a trigger pull but no 2nd stage feel with slow trigger pull. I do wish my S2O had the gas pedalt I do miss that lol. My Dan Wesson has the best trigger of my pistols even though it's not the lightest. Typical 1911 trigger. S2O is the most accurate pistol I've ever shot. TSO close second. Other people have commented on the "2nd stage" creep of a TSO. Didn't bother me and normal shooting you didn't feel it anyway

I do dry fire without snap caps and perfectly fine to do so on the S2 and TSO. Not 100% on the A01 but I assume yes

Oh and the trigger in my original S2 is still a nice trigger but the S2O is a step up

Very nice!
Back in 2012, I had the same issue. I liked the SP01 Shadow frame, but TS sight picture. I made myself a CTS. I would suggest the same. Get CZC to provide you an Accu TS upper, that would not require fitting to the frame (they can do all the mods on the slide to make it fit to your frame as is).
Life is too short to waste on a bad trigger pull

Shot them both today.  They feel different enough from each other to justify owning them. My first mag with the a01 was extremely accurate. Very enjoyable gun.  The tso took A while to get accurate.  The sights were low 2” at 12 yards.  I had to turn that screw 3 complete turns to get it right. The tuning is so fine.  I kept turning it and turning it and it didn’t adjust.  Finally gave it 2 more complete spins and it shot on center.  I had 1 issue w the Tso where the slide locked open on a round. The a01 had no malfunctions.  The muzzle rise on the tso was amazing.  The gas pedal works imo.  I was never able to get as accurate with the tso as I was with the a01.  The a01 targets all looked great.  The tso targets were mixed.  I shot 75 rounds each through each gun. 10 rounds at a time.  Switching back and forth between them.  I think I’m just as good with my S2 as I am with these 2 at close range.  I found the a01 sights to be easier for my old eyes.

A01 wins!!

A01 wins!!

Very impressive handguns! Thank you for the update. I would hope the A01 wins for the cost. It is good to know that extra money made it worth while. I have been looking at the A01 for a while, but had concerns that I would be a little disappointed since I have my S2 exactly the way I want it. I have installed the CGW S2 kit, polished the internals, and converted it to SAO using CGW straight trigger. I have also installed palm swell Lok grips. To me, it is just about perfect and my favorite handgun I own.

Another handgun I am looking at is the 2011 Staccato C2. Another high priced gun that I can only drool over right now.

Shot the tso today.  Played around w double taps.  I’ve been working on them
With my S2 with so-so results.  With the TSo I could do it every time. The gun came right back every shot. Simply amazing.  Gonna try double tap on multiple targets next time.

Just recently purchased  a TS0. I can not say enough good things about it. I really like the way the trigger is —-small amount of take up—a wall—icicle break. Pull weight is less than 2 pounds. Currently I just have a little over  150 rounds thru the pistol.
