457 Scout

I picked up a 457 Scout with the intent of putting a .17 HMR barrel on it eventually.  Due to an ongoing project, I had to take my current ‘home use’ .22 off line for a bit.  I threw a Leupold VX Freedom 1.5-4 I had laying around in some Talley low rings.




I went to the range yesterday to zero it, and see how it likes CCI standard vel, as that is what I have piles of.




First group was a 6 shot, the second a 5 shot group.  Groups shot at 50 yards off of a rest with a rear bag.

It looks like this one is going to stay a .22 just as it currently sits.

Far exceeded my expectations....and the trigger is the best I’ve gotten off the shelf to date; about 3 lbs with almost no take up or over travel.

I know I’m preaching to the choir, but I can’t imagine not buying a CZ if I was in the market for a bolt action rimfire

I like the 1-4X - 1.5-5X scopes a lot. And I like how CZ up rated the Trainer open sights over the earlier Model (452-455) Trainer sights. That's a grand set up you have.

How does this one sound with the can?

With the Silencerco Sparrow, it’s quiet; with CCI Quiet, you just hear the striker drop, and the bullet impact, with standard vel, you get a little more.  Still very quiet.

It’s not the quietest rimfire can, but for overall ease of ownership, I love them.

Far easier to clean and maintain, if you’re shooting high volume.

Once you go quiet, it’s hard to go back....especially with rimfire.
