Lower profile safety for Shadow 2
« on: December 07, 2020, 09:56:24 AM »
I see lots of stuff about getting the extended safety. But my S2O came with that, and I don't like it. Blocks my strong hand thumb from getting to the slide release. Where do I find the low profile ones? I never use it anyway. Would rather have seen them put a decocker there, which makes more sense on a DA/SA gun, IMO.

Find someone who bought a CO shadow 2 mine came with the flat left side safety and I want the extended to match my other shadows. If you can find someone to trade that would be a win-win. If you are in NC or don’t mind the shipping cost I would trade you even.

It should have come in the box with your pistol.

This.

I had the flat safety initially installed from the factory but replaced it with the extended one that was inside the box.

Double check the contents of the box. It should be in there unless they cz changed their policy and doesn’t include both safeties nowadays.

I thought the new S2s only came with the thin safety.

Mine had the thin safety installed and the extended one in the box when I bought my shadow 2 in 2017.

My original shadow 2 and shadow 2 orange came with both, my new carry optics shadow 2 only came with the lo profile safety.

Thanks for the offer, but I'd just as soon keep the stock one also.

I watched some unboxing vid's online, and it seems CZ has stopped including both, at least for the Orange.

I guess I could just remove it. I don't use it anyway. Would that invalidate the gun from being used in USPSA/IDPA?

I would advise against running the pistol with one of the safety levers removed. A better idea would be to remove, alter and reinstall the existing safety lever or buy a slim profile replacement and install it.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

The gun won’t be legal in USPSA if you remove the safety altogether.

I prefer the flat safeties on my Shadow 2’s to keep it out of the way.  I never use them.  The gun is either in DA mode with the hammer down, or if in SA mode I am shooting.

With the thin safeties and the above spring one should never be in an unwanted safety position.

Thanks for the input. Interesting nobody has suggested a source for these. I was thinking I was just missing the obvious. I'll call CS USA tomorrow and see if they can sell me one. Not to hopeful there, though. They have not been much help on any of my questions so far.

Sounding a bit sour there JBruns

I suggest that you make a post is the The Classifieds section of the forums. If you do make a post, be sure to state what side safety lever you are looking for. These pistols shipped with 2 safety sets for a while, so there are allot of extras floating around. I looked around a bit and it seams they are being sold as sets, new for around $90. Seeing as how you require only one side, this seems prohibitive.

I am unclear what configuration you are looking for. If you wish to buy a set, CZ USA has them in different configurations. Here is a link to the CZ USA webstore https://shop.cz-usa.com/. Search "safety set shadow 2". Make sure the listing says Shadow 2, some of the other safety levers will not work in an S2.

Note: If you change out the Left side safety lever, some fitting may be required to reestablish proper safety lever function.
