How much of the members funds are in that CSB LaPierre's pockets and tucked into offshore accounts? That's what I want to know. I hope they don't reincorporate here in Texas. Don't want those SOBs here. Stay in NY where they belong.

I think you better  think about who you are talking about and keep your facts straight. I am a life member just like my Armoredman.
Lapierre's alleged corruption is pretty well documented. Doesn't seem to me like Ron M is disparaging members. Am I misunderstanding?

I have been an NRA member for most of my adult life and a Life Member since the early 2000's.  I have also attended NRA conventions and training in the past few years.  Yeah, I think their leadership team is corrupt and has been for a while.  I have also seen this happen with other non-profits that have nothing to do with 2A rights.  The people in charge don't believe in the mission and are only there to serve their own self-interests.  Whatever minimal 2A-related contributions I have made in the past few years have gone to the GOA.  On the other hand, the majority of people rooting for the defeat / destruction / whatever of the NRA aren't looking to reform the NRA or the 2A rights movement in general.  They are looking to disarm you in preparation for what comes next.

Honestly, I don't think they know what they're getting into.  Texans don't take kindly to betrayals, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the AG or others force them to make leadership and structure changes prior to 2024 and almost definitely prior to 2028 unless they make systemic changes on their own.

As you know, the NRA state affiliate here is a joke with probably a half dozen 2A state orgs now having more operating funds and probably also more membership.   Heck TSRA gave cover to RINOs opposed to constitutional carry last session.  Doesn't get much more useful idiot/cuck than that!

Honestly, my first take was that LaPierre agreed to pay cuts but he wants to move to no state income tax Texas to make those paycuts hurt less.

Also remember that the NRA was previously planning to buy him a home in the state: "Inside the Luxe Texas Mansion the NRA Nearly Bought for CEO Wayne LaPierre"

We absolutely need a strong, vibrant 2A organization now more than ever, and I really hope this opportunity allows for a new, much more ethical, organization to step into the void and do that.

Guessing my post (below) was overlooked.....or those lobbying organizations were simply dismissed by you.

my lobbying contributions have gone to CCRKBA, GOA & SAF exclusively.

Would encourage you to look into the financials of SAF and CCRKBA -- CCRKBA is the NRA ILA equivalent to SAF.  SAF has just a fraction of their revenues actually going to litigation.  Most of their monies go to the consulting firms who own/run the SAF and CCRKBA.

Latest 990 propublica for 2018 has $1 million to legal out of $4.8 million raised, roughly 22%.

Top vendors -- at least two of the top five expenditure recipients are businesses owned by management of SAF w/ same address

I don't disagree with your larger point at all. But apparently on some level the NRA didn't agree with that point, or they wouldn't have stolen our money. Freedoms can be lost due to laziness or complacency, but they can just as easily be lost to corruption.

+1

LaPierre's mismanagement had the NRA on the sidelines and completely ineffective politically in 2020.

The forthcoming Biden infringements on our 2A rights -- those are due in no small part to LaPierre and the NRA Board's corruption and incompetence failing to make gun rights a political issue.  And remember that there were an estimated 7-9 million NEW GUN OWNERS in 2020.  What a wasted opportunity!

The lawsuit highlights misspending by the organization’s longtime leader Wayne Lapierre on things like hair and makeup for his wife, lavish trips and a $17 million post-employment contract for himself without board approval.

The investigation also found the NRA went from a nearly $28 million surplus in 2015 to a $36 million deficit in 2018.

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

I too am a life member of the NRA.  I agree that the senior leadership needs to change as well.

The NRA definitely need to clean house, starting with the top. As much as people like to knock the NRA, they do a lot of good for funding gun programs, like ranges, youth gun sports etc. I think the move out of NY and to Texas is a great idea.
