Question about my new CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical
« on: January 20, 2021, 01:12:50 PM »
My NEW CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical came with two Mec-Gar 17 round magazines with +2 base plates. Each magazine has a blue follower and says .40 on one side and 9mm on the other. What's up with that? I've never seen a magazine labeled as such. Is this supposed to come with a new CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical? I was expecting two 18 round CZ mags. Thanks.

This is something I have only seen with CZ pistols.  Pretty cool really, must have to do with the follower design.  I have the same on my SP-01 Tactical and PCR.  Pretty clever really.  BTW, my SP-01 mags are 18 rounders but hold 19 no problemo.

My understanding is Mec-Gar makes CZ's magazines. My PCR came with a "CZ" magazine and a Mec-Gar magazine which was marked 40/9mm as you say. Don't know what gives.

Personally, I've only bought Mec-Gars as additional magazines. Same magazine except for the brand stamp and I get them from Greg Cote. You can Google his site but I'd suggest DuckDuckGo instead.  ;D

Same deal on both my P01 and my SP01. Using the same mag for both 9mm and for 40 S&W simply saves them an additional part to keep inventory of.

The Mec-Gar's are awesome mags. Never had a bit of problem with them.

Today was my first time shooting my new CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical. The MecGar mags that came with the gun functioned flawlessly. Overall, excellent experience today. BTW, today was my first time ever shooting a CZ. I love it! VERY accurate and VERY smooth operation. This gun is a keeper for sure!

Congrats. I love my SP01T- just feels right in my hands. Any failures is on the operator, not the gun

I'm pretty sure when I had my SP01 Tactical is also came with the 17rd tubes and the extended basepads.  I actually prefer the 17rd tube, since there seems to be the most options for aftermarket basepads/extensions for them.

My Shadow 2 came with the same mags.  As the Shadow 2 sadly does not come in 40 I was curious as well.  Fortunately I have several CZs in 40 and 357 Sig and these mags work great.  Wish I could by more, but can not find any.

Usually there is a slight follower change but I have some labeled 40 only and some 9, and some 9 or 40 and they all seems to be the same follower on the mec gar. Both work well although I have a little more issues at full capacity with 40.
