Free float trigger pin on TSO
« on: January 27, 2021, 11:00:02 AM »
I recently swapped out the trigger on my TSO for an armory craft. While I was at it, I went ahead and replaced the trigger pin with the CGW free float pin. I noticed it would move a lot more easily than the original roll pin. I did degrease it and the gun and installed with the supplied red loctite, but even red loctite did not inspire confidence in that application.

I guess my questions are:

1. Has anyone had an issue with the pin backing out? If so did you use the loctite?
2. Aside from being able to be reused, what are the advantages of the CGW free float pin?

I have not shot the gun after replacing trigger but I’m just not confident the pin will stay put. It went in pretty easily with just finger pressure, no punch needed.

TS has a different trigger return spring and doesnt touch the trigger pin.
floating pin needs standard style TRS to hold tension on it to help keep in place.

please dont put locktite near you trigger.

It was this one specific to Tac sport.

I didn’t like the idea of loctite either but the instructions called for it and I didn’t have a lot of confidence in its retention.

Well David knows his stuff, a lot better than me. Drop them an email, I’m sure they got a solution.

I've used the floating trigger pin in both of my TSO's for years with out any issue or movement.  I followed the instructions and used the included loctite and let it cure.

I have pulled them apart at least once since the original install and reapplied the loctite.  I also douche my guns with brake cleaner at least twice a year to fully clear the crud.  Haven't had any issues with the floating trigger pin or loctite.

The advantage is an easier teardown when needed.  I also think the trigger fit is slightly tighter with the CGW pin (less lateral movement).

Cheers,
Toby

If the pin is moving then you did not get the frame and pin degreased properly and let the Loctite cure before handling. any residual oils AT ALL will hinder the proper setting of the loctite.
