Couple of weeks ago I searched the x-grip website to see if any of them were close in profile to fit a P series mag (to use a 15 or 17 round in a P-10S for example). I was looking to see if any close profile could be modified to reasonably fit - and I found 1: for the S&W M&P 9/40C (link below). It looked close on the screen so I ordered 2 from Greg Cote. They arrived last week and here's what I found playing around and fitting them to a P series mag:
- fit the body of the mag and slides down like other x-grips I have - so the S&W mag body is very close in dimension & shape to P series
- the S&W x-grip rear doesn't seat well to the P series base plate - but fits better when you trim off some of the edge there (still doesn't fit well, but closes the gap noticeably)
- x-grip finger (for pinkly finger) well fits my size hands perfectly and feels natural (I have large hands - but not XL hands)
- the modified x-grip on a mag loads and locks into the gun with just a tiny bit of push
- I fired this modified x-grip on both a P series 15 and 17 rd mag with no issues at all (in a P-10S). This was a full capacity +1
- while there are still some gaps in fit, the x-grip felt good in my hand
- I'll fire this combination a few more times, but wouldn't hesitate to use it if it continues to function (which I expect).
Again, while not optimum in fit/appearance, this options seems to work just fine _ for me at least. So, I thought I'd share
