Looking for a reccomendation for a rig for the boy
« on: March 10, 2021, 12:41:52 AM »
He wants an OWB rig, left hand, kydex, no cant, open top, lined rig for his P10S. Any thoughts?

As you likely know, there are dozens of quality kydex holster makers out there.  And holsters tend to be a very personal choice too.  His requirement for "lined" could make the choice more difficult as there don;t seem to be a lot of kydex makers who offer a lining option (at least from my search experience - but I've been wrong before).  So am curious as to the lining requirement?

DanMore asks a good question - I'm assuming this is a concealed carry rig - or is open carry an option (which would beg the level of retention question)?  Might be some other considerations as well like adjustable retention.  Just lots to consider in a holster (especially if someone is particular about the features).

I must be blind...  8) LINED...  :P

Check "Tucker Gun Leather" and "JM4 Tactical". These are not kydex but boltaron (this is even better material) with leather liner.
Tucker is petty good with special requirements. If you need something you don't see on their website, just call or email them.
They made few OWB and one IWB carry holsters for me last year. Left handed with cant adjustment (so "no cant" included).

That's actually an interesting set of criteria.  I would assume it's a carry rig since probably not too many people compete with a P10S.  An OWB rig is more likely to be open carry than concealed, but it could be concealed... no cant is also more likely to be open carry although with the shorter grip of a P10S it won't matter as much.  I have a left-handed and lined holster that meets those other criteria for my P-07 but it's a Safariland 6367 ALS/SLS holster not an open top.

Don’t know of one lined. Might give We Plead the 2nd a call in Tempe. They do custom stuff. I have an IWB for my Sig 320; decent workmanship, decent price.

I got a high noon lined kydex OWB holster for my SIG P320. Like it immensely, even though I favor Leather over kydex.
Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

Every Day Carry - Arizona is a Constitutional Carry state, so as soon as he turns 21 he can carry his sidearm openly or concealed with no permit, license or other nanny state requirement. Also, if you don't mind the slightly warm temps, we have plenty of room in AZ for good people, just sayin'.
He likes the idea of lined to protect the finish, and the OWB is because he is like me - don't like IWB any more than I have to. I carry OWB myself and conceal easily under a large t-shirt. So an OWB rig that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Yes, this would be a daily carry rig. However, since this is his FIRST one, I will guess with much experience that it won't be his last, once he gets used to actually carrying concealed. I have never heard of "boltoron", almost sounds like a B-level movie about robot boxing or something...

Kore Essentials Belt, Vedder holster and Magpouch would be my choice.

I have the leather and nylon Kore Essentials Belt and it is great, even if I don`t EDC.
I also have a Vedder Pro OWB Paddle Holster (https://www.vedderholsters.com/prodraw/) and magpouch (https://www.vedderholsters.com/magdraw/) aswell as the Vedder belt (https://www.vedderholsters.com/cobra-quick-release-gun-belt/), good aswell. It`s quite rigid.

I conceal carry my P07 and P09 in the same zero cant, open top kydex holster all the time. I like to keep it around the 2:30 spot when I’m walking around as it helps his the grip. I’m a skinny guy too.

The P10 S might not be the typical competition firearms, just like the Walther PK380, Walther PP or PPK, or similar.
Here in Germany we hve a competition for those sub compact pistols.

I myself use the Walther PK380 for a specific competition called Police Pistol 4 (Pocket Gun).

I've carried with a Kore Essentials belt for over a year now, very pleased with it.
