Aftermarket folding stocks
« on: May 18, 2021, 09:40:35 PM »
I've been thinking of changing out the fixed stock on my czechpoint VZ58, and was wondering if anyone has tried a couple of the ones I was looking at and would care to comment.

Bonesteel has a galil style stock for the vz58, but I haven't been able to find any pics of it or reviews (maybe I'm looking in the wrong places). Another option I was thinking of was getting an adapter from storm works that would provide a small picatinny rail section so a sig folder could be mounted - either the sig minimalist stock or the folder/collapsing stock that comes on the MCX.

Another option that seems intriguing is an overseas option. Some of the overseas vendors have original military vz folders overmolded in polymer. I thought that might provide a more comfortable cheek weld compared to the standard steel folder (which I've heard is not comfortable at all).

I considered the RS Regulate adapter, zhukov stock combination, but it seems to be out everywhere (the adapter) and that stock seems to be too high to still use the irons.

Anyone care to share their experiences or suggest something not mentioned, it would be appreciated.

I have a mako stock on one of my VZs. It's comfortable and has adjustable cheek weld. No adjustment for LOP though. It does the job.

I have the Zhukov stock on at the moment, and it for sure makes it difficult to use the irons.

There are folders for the standard fixed stocks available as well.

Irons are still viable w/ Zhukov I'd say unless you have exceptionally chubby or large cheeks.
But it was made to align a half inch or so above irons with their side plate mount, which means it would also work with a forward mount but not cowitness red dot...

Personally, I'd think you might be better with one of the ACE stocks over bonesteel since they offer variable length of pulls, etc.

Stormwerkz sells several adapters and both straight and factory angle.  The picatinny and multiple screw holes ones offer some vertical adjustment of stock height for your stock and sighting systems specific configuration.

Straight alignment allows for reduced/better-controlled recoil than angled.

A nice option for the standard folder is the Attero Arms cheek rest. I did that and slapoed on a quick wrap of black hockey tape. Feels great.
