P-01 Hybrid Holster
« on: May 21, 2021, 12:34:25 PM »
I would like to apologize in advance because this question was probably addressed more than once, however, I can't find anything recent so I will ask here.

I have a P-01 and I have tried a few Kydex IWB appendix carry holsters and can't find one that I find comfortable enough to keep and use for EDC.

I would like to know if you have any personal use and recommendations for a Hybrid that is comfortable for you and that you would recommend for appendix carry.
Thanks in advance

First of all... there is no comfortable IWB holsters.  ;)

After testing few different models, materials, positions... I found "Tier1 Concealed" to be the best one. Perhaps it is still not comfortable (please see my 1 sentence) but it is the best from concealability and accessibility perspective.
I tried hybrid holster in appendix position... but didn't work good as Tier1.

I have tried a few kidex IWB appendix holsters and don't like any of them. That is why I want to try a hybrid. I do carry IWB very comfortably at 5 o'clock, however I want to start to carry appendix.

You may want to try this:
https://tuckergunleather.com/deep-carry-dc-1/

This one can be used as IWB and I carried P-01 Omega in it for a while. I felt ok with it, however switched to Tier1 once was introduced to it.
I know each of us can have a different body, so DC1 may work for you.

Look at something in the way of a belly band holster. Brave Response Appendix Holster is one. This conceals better than any "traditional" belt mounted holster I have tried. There are draw backs to belly band holsters. The holster will collapse when the  gun is drawn. If it is mandatory for you that the holster  stay open for re-holstering, this is a concern. Belly bands, and leather holsters for that matter, will soak up sweat. Leather holsters can taken hours to dry out. A belly band not so long. One good thing about belly band type holsters is that you don't get rigid portions of the holster poking you. This can happen with some leather holsters as well as kydex. Design of a specific holster plays a big part in this.  I have been using appendix carry for almost 30 years, with it being 99% exclusive for the last 25 years, so it really isn't that difficult.
Carrying IWB in any position is impossible for some. I guess it is a matter of just deciding that you want to and go with it.
At any rate, just experiment, that is a small part of the fun of the whole thing.
Chances are you will wind up with a drawer full of holsters, like a lot of us.

for IWB, try Black Arch hybrid holster.

it's the only hybrid I've found where the kydex shell wraps around the trigger guard so that the pistol clicks in just like a full kydex, instead of just retained by friction against the backing layer.

I've decided to take your advice and I ordered it. If I don't like it I can always return it. I'm hoping that it does work out because I want to switch to appendix but I am not willing to put up with the discomfort that I have experienced in the past.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. This is the only IWB holster I use , all others have been uncomfortable enough not to wear.
Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

I have 2 Vedder LightTuck holsters and am very satisfied with them. They are not hybrid but are well made. They are also adjustable for height as well as cant to find the "sweet spot" for in waistband carry.

Vedder was the first holster I bought and returned it within a week. I found it very uncomfortable
