Barrel Swap or Barrel Nut Rethread HELP
« on: May 22, 2021, 11:36:26 PM »
So I need some help with my Scorpion. It’s a Gen 1 SBRed gun that I did back in 2016. I recently wanted to change some things up and get a Paske Handguard or the Carbine Handguard to tuck my Obsidian 9 inside.

Well today when I took the current HBI handguard off I realized when I had my barrel rethreaded to 1/2x28 they also turned down the barrel nut threads. Since I need the threads to attach the barrel nut is there anyway to have it rethreaded or do I need to find a stock barrel to replace it with?

I don’t think you want the Pakse hand guard if you want to hide a suppressor in it. There’s not much space beyond the mounting point for anything to tuck inside. I have one off the gun I can check and get you actual dimensions when I get home from work. Is your current HBI hand guard the kind that attaches to a mounting block clamped on the breach end of the barrel? If so, why not just get a different length of your current hand guard? Hbi makes them in several lengths, flat or angled. If you don’t have that style, get one. I converted my S1 to an S2 this way and my 1.5” diameter suppressor sits inside it really nicely.
