Eight Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives have filed a bill that would require handgun owners to obtain a license and register their firearms with the federal government.

Well if it passes it will simply be another unconstitutional law that I'll have to ignore. I don't see it happening though.

Has anyone noticed how people who propose stuff like this, never even attempt to articulate how it would benefit/help/prevent crime?
It's not saving any water if you have to flush it over and over....

Yep I notice it often. Thing is once people like us who notice such things have passed on the new "indoctrinated" generations will come of age and not have the intellect to notice such things and will be very easy to control. All by design.

I agree. Sadly, given the natural behavior of youth to disregard what their elders say....it's a losing battle trying to educate many of them.

Ditto to everything said, I have 6 employees. All much younger than I am and they don't understand how much freedom has changed in past 50 years.

It's chances in the Senate are zero. They know it and are virtue signaling to their base, the same as Republicans who file pro-rights bills in a House controlled by anti rights politicians. Virtue signaling, pure and simple. However, we should always keep the pressure on our elected congresscritters and make sure they are aware if they DO vote for something like this, we will work to vote them out.

Even if passed, I think SCOTUS would knock it down due to both infringing on the 2A and for right to privacy issues with the registration part. I seriously doubt it would ever pass through the Senate.

This sounds eerily like what we already have in place in MD - you need a HQL (Handgun Qualification License) to purchase a handgun....

Some States already have gun registration and requirements for training, if passed I hope it is challenged immediately and reverses those states already doing it.

In CT, where the gun laws were strict to begin with, things got worse after the Sandy Hook shooting. Used to be, if you had a carry permit, you could carry a gun out of a gun shop without the waiting period. Now, even WITH a permit, they call the State Police for every purchase. You even need a permit to buy ammo, not even your hunting license isnt good enough to buy even .22's or shotgun shells.

I like to tell this story to people that say its easy to buy a gun:

I hadnt bought one in a while, so a few years after Sandy Hook I was at a big shop in CT (where I have had my carry permit since I was 18). I was about 55 at this time. I bought a Sig P938 on a Sunday afternoon, and after filling out the papers I was getting ready to leave with the gun. But the State Police computers were down and they said I'd have to come back the next day. WTF, the shop was an hour from me. So much for easy access to firearms.

Gun laws wasnt the  the reason I left, but I like TN a lot better than CT-lol

Won't pass, and won't be effective anyway.

Too bad many seem to listen to the far left professors etc.  Many youngsters seem to think people like AOC are the future.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

Its a losing battle trying to re educate them. They are completely educated already. It was done on our watch because we got lazy and we let it happen. We have let our young people be educated (indoctrinated) by people with beliefs that are so unAmerican it causes me alarm.
