If you live in Texas you had better read this one.

Texas has passed a state law saying a Federal license isn't required for suppressors made and sold within the state. But there's a BIG catch....

These new laws popping up like this one and the many 2A sanctuary laws passing all sound great but until we collectively force change at the federal level I don't think they're going to hold water. The federal court system especially today is not likely to rule against itself and the little people who get ensnared in this stuff are going to pay the price. Their states won't being footing the bill for their defense and they'll lose everything.

I dont think this law being signed is going to encourage very many to rush out and get their machinist buddy to make them a can. The problems and dangers seem to be mostly well known. Granted I am sure there might be some who take this as clearance to stick a oil filter on the end of their firearm, write "Made in Tejas" on it and think they are okay...but I doubt many would take that path.

So, perhaps a test case will be in the offing. But I think most people are looking at this as a hopeful gesture, but not trusting it to protect from prosecution. I know I am looking at it that way.

If you think like the ATF - the illegal part of the oil filter suppressor is the adapter which you are supposed to register.  The fuel filters you can buy are legal because there is no hole drilled so having the hole drilled in TX technically would mean the suppressor was "made" there.

Now all you need to do is get the fed to believe the new law is valid.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Wasn't this tried in Kansas and the person ended up going to prison anyway?

Didn't most of those ATF enforced laws come about due to a court case where the argument was that certain weapons/accessories weren't commonly used by the military?  You know, the military doesn't use it so why should they be used by civilians (militia)?

Seems these days many of the enforcement/licensing duties done by the ATF are exactly controlling weapons commonly used by the military.

And the ATF (egged on by power hungry politicians) is intent on expanding the type of guns they will allow the common citizen to own/use.

We all know the reason for increased gun violence isn't the guns.  It's the piss poor performance of the judicial and legislative sides of our government.

Maybe some states standing up to the federal government is an initial step in pushing back.  Maybe not.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
