Czp01 OMEGA issue
« on: July 31, 2021, 05:27:02 PM »
So I had my p01 up for sale, then I decided I wanted to keep it.  So I took it out to the range today and a strange issue showed up.

For starters, this is a p01 omega that has had the pro package installed by myself.  This problem did not happen immediately after installing the kit, but probably about 200 rounds later.

When I pull the trigger, the gun fires, and the slide cycles, but the hammer is dropping to the half cock position instead of staying in single action.  I am not riding the decocker.

If I hold the trigger back, and manually cycle the slide it does not happen.  However, if I lock the slide back, hold the trigger, and then release the slide with the slide lock lever, the problem is replicated.

Once the hammer falls to half cock, I get a short single action style reset and I can pull the trigger and the hammer will fall from half cock resulting in a light primer strike (I this problem showed up when I was doing double taps and at first I thought I was getting light strikes)

I think what I am experiencing is what cgw is calling hammer follow through.

I remembered my kit came with a blue and natural spring.  I removed the blue and installed the natural color.  Now when I drop the slide it is only doing it half the time.

If your trigger has an overtravel screw it may need (re)adjusting.

I also adjusted the set screw all the way out and it made no difference

I guess the next step will be to remove the cgw hammer and see if it goes away.

I put the cz hammer back in the problem went away.  I guess I will have to contact cajun gun works to figure out what's going on as it is experiencing hammer follow with either of their sear springs.

The DA roller or an improperly adjusted trigger bar spring are the likely culprits.

I suppose I could swap out the roller back to stock.  I never messed with the trigger bar spring at all.

It certainly seems cured with the stock hammer, but I miss the cgw hammer already.  It's not a huge difference in trigger pull, just a little extra mush.

Have you tested the pistol with the CGW Hammer and the factory Roller? The way that i understand it, the CGW Roller is not always required. Its use may be dependent on the specific pistol.

Not yet, I guess that will be the next step.  I am getting really good at stripping this gun at this point.

I put the stock roller back in.  I thought I was good, but on about the 10th try of dropping the slide the hammer followed.  It is definitely better but no cigar.

My stock roller measures at .216 and the cgw measured at .220 using my starret micrometer.

At this stage, i would contact CGW directly. They should be able to nail things down. If you find out anything interesting let us know. We all learn from this stuff.

I sent a message to cgw and I will wait to see what they have to say.

I decided to take it to the range again today.  Have the full pro package installed but I am running the stock roller.  I shot 100 rounds without a malfunction.

That being said, when dropping the slide with no mag in the gun, the hammer will follow every now and then.  I know the slide is moving at greater velocity since its not feeding a round, but I would still hope that it wouldn't do it.  I also know doing that is hard on the slide stop pin, and I don't make practice of doing it.

It seems to be good with live fire, but I probably won't trust it until I get a few hundred more rounds through it.....and with the price of ammo, this is getting rough.

I have been in contact with CGW.  They are going to have me send my gun in and they will get to the bottom of it.
