Do you have a CZ handgun and a VZ ?
« on: August 04, 2021, 02:24:14 AM »
Both the Czechpoint and the PCR went to the club yesterday.

Two empty large juice jugs on the berm (each Loosely staked with about 4' of weedeater cord) were the target for the rifle. The Metal Plates in the numerous Action Pistol alleyways are allowed only for non-magnum handgun ammo.

Fun time with Czech and Czech mate.  :)

A VZ 58, no not yet, but I do have other Czech guns:  7.5 FK BRNO Field Pistol & PSD.

Technically, my Vz 24 was made in the armory in BRNO, but it isn't a CZ.

I just haven't had an urge yet to get a CSA (Czech Small Arms) weapon yet.
CZ24/27/38/40P/45/52, Vzor 50/70,75BΩ,75D Compact,P01/07/09,P10M/S/C/F(9mm,.45), Phantom,SP01 Tactical,Shadow 2 (Blue,Urban Gray), 82/83/85 PreB, 97BE,97BD,97BDE,100,1911A1, 2075D RAMI,452 American,550 Urban Counter Sniper,805 Bren S1,Drake G2,Duo,Z,vz24 8mm Mauser,FK 7.5 BRNO Field Pistol, PSD

A serious chunk of finding the cash for the "nib" Czechpoint in spring 2019, was by selling two of my several handguns which were/are seldom used.

The many testaments to the PCR's quality (my centerfire handguns Must be DA/SA), along with solid recommendations of the CSA VZ-58 on AKfiles, persuaded me to have both a handgun and semi-auto rifle produced by the Czechs.

If a gun is considered very well-designed/manufactured on "the AKfiles" (very Tough group to please  ;D ), then it is a very reliable gun...... :)

Several years ago a few boxes of ammo through a CZ-82 (9x18 Makarov chambering) left my first impressions about their excellent guns.
Was already a bit familiar with their Let-39 advanced jet trainer (a number were imported for private owners), and the VZ-24 Mauser.

CTGuy:

With a VZ 858, I hope you are not in Canada. We know what recently happened to the ownership of almost every type.........correction....many types of semi-auto rifle up there.

At least if you are in Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia etc, the guns laws still allow you to own an operational VZ 858 / 58 etc.

:)  I just received a PM from a Nova Scotia guy on TheHighRoad, and was glad to read that certain semi-auto centerfire rifes - besides the SKS - are still allowed to be operational in Canada.
Even his >> Beretta <<, which Reminds me of a Sig 550, is still allowed at clubs.

:^)

The Leaf Gestapo are viciously incompetent and underfunded, and people LOVE their Vzs. They aren’t going anywhere, regardless of the politicians and LEOs seething. Very very few guns will be found or turned in.
Remember, the FRT is an opinion, not law, and the OIC moves are blatantly against the law.

Ditched the Alfa for a 75, by the way. After a few thousand rounds, don’t trust the AP for a serious sidearm.

This is shocking news to me. It appeared to be law- as if handed down by a Henry the Eighth Wannabe.

I’m happy for y’all, having had the distinct impression months ago that Every gun type in that multi-page, very long Verboten list was doomed.

Maybe the massive logistical disruptions and understaffing caused by the Wuhan virus has further undermined your Leaf Gestapo. Is it mostly the RCMP?

I skimmed through part of the OIC, about “…2022…”  whatever.
Can you still shoot these guns at a club, in almost every province? ???

It has nothing to do with the virus, there’s just physically too much to cover and not enough time, money or people. The last time this sort of thing happened in the early/mid 90s, there was almost nobody willing to turn anything in either. So plenty of boomers out there with paperless MGs and whatnot that they just….kept. Totally understandable. Who wants to burn thousands of dollars on a gun and just give it up? Benefits people like me a few decades later too.

I wouldn’t know how ranges are reacting. I haven’t stepped foot on a range in almost 12 years now. Why would I when I have the vast wilderness and a billion abandoned oil lease sites?

That is somewhat hilarious - in a very good sense - about the supposed 'non-compliance' of Canadian citizens. I hope that those owners who live far from the wilderness can risk shooting a VZ at a gun club, without some little "brown shirt" secretly ratting on them.

There have been very rough estimates by German police agencies or their Bundeskriminalamt  ("FBI") that many thousands of family heirlooms are secretly "protected" by Germans.

My mistaken impression was that the Canadian govt has lists of all gun owners, what they own, and also mistakenly,  that they might randomly knock on doors of gun owners with VZs etc in order to intimidate the public, possibly charge some with a crime.

Excellent situation that they are so understaffed  :) and apparently very underfunded, as with our ATF.

Same applies here in the US with f/a guns to some degree or another (that were legal when originally purchased but never registered).  As well as bumpstocks, etc.  AFAIK, don't have anything illegal in mine nor immediate family's possession though know of more than a few friends whose families allegedly have older unregistered f/a weapons secreted away...

The issue with Europe, etc, is in being able to feed those military-grade weapons.  Is some WW2 ammo serviceable?  Yes.  Is it reliable 80 years later? Not so much.  The misfires on the German armor piercing 8mm mauser ammo that was recently imported illustrate this brilliantly.

Ammo lifespan is less of a concern in the US, but could eventually become one.

*Personally for practical use, I'd rather have a .50 bmg or .338 lapua s/a or bolt will quality glass than a thompson smg or many of the other civilian legal f/as.  Though don't have either of those either... Eventually will so long as such remain legal and take care of some other priorities first.

And if I really want the fun switch stuff, will just get the appropriate BATF license.  One of my FFLs, who is also a former cop and now private security, has a 5.56 CZ 805 Bren w/ the 2 shot feature and some other CZ LE goodies.  REALLY makes me consider it though the hassle of running a gun business for the occasional f/a grin doesn't currently make sense for me.

I disagree, personally. I’m of the opinion that you should just make whatever you like, licenses be bleeped, so long as you’re not hurting anybody. Just don’t get caught. I’ve occasionally run into old boomer hunters who put up little hunting camps at lease sites. They tend to be pretty friendly when you offer to let them try a full-auto Vz or G36 or whatever you’re hauling out that day. And if someone brings a Vz to the range, I’m not gonna raise an eyebrow. None of my business.

Way too many gun owners nowadays, especially older ones, are such vicious sticklers to THE RULES. You can’t even ask questions about NFA items without them howling that NOOO YOU CAN’T DISCUSS THAT, YOU AREN’T A POOPOOPEEPEE CLASS SOT NOOO!
Information shouldn’t be restricted and ass-kissing the system that actively hates you as a gun owner does nobody good.

Ah, but who wants to hear a dirty Leaf rant anyway?…
