Did I place an order with Optics Planet again? A moment of weakness brought on by a low price and free shipping, I guess. I placed my order at 8:00 pm Wednesday. At 10:00 am Thursday morning I came across a better item at a lower price on fleabay, so I ordered it. I then called OP to cancel my order, but was told that it had already been shipped, so I couldn't cancel - only return it, on my dime, after receiving it. And they are notorious for taking weeks to apply the credit back.

As of this morning, USPS says they're still waiting for the package. Live and learn. Then forget. Then live and learn again.....

Have never dealt with Optics Planet, but will take note !
     Just ordered from Midway though, and was shocked. Had to supply NJ FID# for ammo and expected a delay. Got confirmation within half an hour, and notice from UPS that it was processed within an hour. Still expect snags, but  pleasantly surprised so far.

Bought a few things from Optics Planet many years ago and while I had no issue at the time I just wasn't impressed with their service overall. They seemed really slow to get things out the door unlike Midway who seems to ship things at warp speed most of the time. I started buying from Midway 30 years ago and I can't say I've ever had a problem with them.
Placed a Midway order 2 days ago and as of this morning it's at the UPS hub in Canton, Ohio so I'll have it Monday afternoon.

Optics planet sucks. I don’t trade with them, ever anymore. They’re in enemy territory (IL) so they won’t sell any magazines over 10 rounds (even though all their products are drop shipped from the manufacturer), which is another reason to hate those POSs. Also, they’ll happily fill your cart with out of stock items and still charge your card - you may wait months for those parts to come in, if they ever arrive. Bastards!

Definitely the last time for me. I swear it! If I ever get tempted to order from them again, I'll post on here first so you guys can talk me down.

So this morning, eight days after placing the order, USPS is still awaiting the item. And this is the item they said had shipped on the 9th......

Somehow I think I'd dispute the charge with my CC company and tell Optics Planet to stuff it. You don't want it and won't pay for it.

My experiences with Optics Planet before Covid hit were all satisfactory. 

My experiences since Covid hit have been all negative.   
It’s my understanding that their business model is taking the order - and then ordering from their supplier to have the item drop-shipped.  The suppliers do not actually have the items in stock either.  So you wait for an indefinite length of time with zero communication while wondering when or if you will get what you ordered.

I most likely will never order from Optics Planet again.

It is too bad, since they used to be a really good company to deal with. Maybe when they were small, they just cared more. Bought my first DSLR from them back in 2004.
