6.5" barrel in a Tactical Sport 5.1" slide?
« on: September 21, 2021, 05:04:01 PM »
I am considering a future build with a Tac Sport slide. I know a 6" barrel will fit into a stock bushing CZ-75 4.6" slide, that's 1.4" extra length.

Will a 6.5" barrel fit into a Tac Sport slide with stock bushing? That's also 1.4" of extra barrel length.

Thanks!

Would think you would need to reduce the diameter of the barrel ahead of the bushing slightly.  Stuart could probably give you a more definitive answer.  Curious what is the goal of the extra inch and a half?  40 and 9mm will not gain much in velocity.  357 Sig would, but that is another issue.

Interesting project.  Wish you the best.

Thanks, I think this is what I am going to try since I'm in CA and we cannot have threaded barrrels installed:

With my Tac Sport upper fitted to small frame CZ - I am going to ask Barsto to make me a 6" Tac Sport barrel, that will go on a 75B frame. The last 1" of the barrel toward the muzzle will be reduced to 0.50" OD so it will fit through the 0.55" bushing, and I will clamp on a comp on the end. I heard that the CGW x10 bushing won't even allow the threaded TSO barrel through it, so I'm going back to the factory bushing.

I replied on another forum a bit ago.

I have used the CZC threaded barrel, which is about 0.7" longer than std TS barrel, on the standard bushing. It fits the TS, as well as SP01 without issues. The SP01 is about 1.2 to 1.4" difference, I am not sure exactly, but it functions just fine.

Cant be sure about the 1.4" longer version on the TS.

Based on what you have added about reducing dia and adding a clamp on bushing, my above reply might be of even less use, I guess.

When are you gonna give up an move to a free state!?

But.... dang that does sound like a cool project. When I comped my SP-01, I also considered just getting a 6" barrel and adding popple holes to that. It was difficult to find the threaded barrels at the time was also another consideration.

After having my own issues with set screws an thread on comps, I wish you luck with the clamp on. If bar sto is making the barrel custom, would it be too much to ask them to add some dimple holes for set screws too? Its a very ambitious project, but I'm sure you'll make it look like butter. Assuming for major PF, if not I'd def lean to popple holes.
