Is there any cycling problems shooting subsonic 147 gr ammo from my EVO?

Wondering about loading some 147 gr sub sonic rounds for my Scorpian. Has anyone had any experience with this round cycling?

I've never had any problems shooting FACTORY 147 grainers through either of my Scorpion pistols, both non-suppressed. Never had feeding, firing or ejection issues. I've used Winchester, Federal and Speer Lawman. I haven't worked up a hand load with 147's yet.

I’m curious about this as well as I plan to leave 147 grain Federal HSTs loaded in my Scorpion full time and shoot it both unsuppressed as well as suppressed. This will probably double as a home defense gun as well so I need it to cycle reliably.

• There must be some, but most (if not all) 147gr 9mm ammo is sub-sonic. So I'm not sure why one sub-sonic would, and another not.

• And too, it's obvious all ammo is not the same. So why don't you try telling us an exact brand and mfg number.

• Also your question is not clear. When you say "loading some" is that as in handload some ammo at home, or load some ammo into the magazine ? Of course, you'll get your greatest variations with homemade ammo, so testing would be required.

My suggestion is, as is with all ammo YOU plan on using to protect yourself and your family, not to trust answers from the internet. Go buy 5 boxes and shoot 3. Then you'll have your answer. The second part of your second sentence tells us why this is true.

I get that. I’ve done that. I’m asking if anyone has any experience before dropping that kind of money. If people have had bad experiences that says something.

I have shot hundreds of rounds of Browning BPT 147gr out of my 8" scorpion with a muzzle brake, and have not experienced a single failure. It is rated at 326 ft-lbs out of a 4" barrel, it is a flat nose round and feeds without binding.

I have had problems.  I reload 147gr FN Bayou Bullets subsonic for IDPA to make power factor.  I have fired thousands of rounds through an assortment of pistol manufacturers without a single issue.  I bought my Scorpion in September.   I took to the range a few times and shot one match without issues.  Two weeks ago, I had three failure to feed issues out of five stages.   (Needless to say, my time was awful that day.) The range owner is a gunsmith.  He thought my issue was due to the flat nose on my bullets.  I see this a similar to feeding difficulties of HP ammo on some manufacturers of 1911s that were designed 100 years ago for 230gr RN bullets. 

I bought 100 rounds of conventional 115 gr FMJ.   Shot on Saturday flawlessly.  My experience tells me that it is not an issue with 147 gr subsonic, per se, but rather bullet profile.

I have had issues with occasional failures to feed when shooting 147gr Federal subsonic in my Scorpion both suppressed and unsuppressed. After some troubleshooting, I have determined that the issue was actually with a magazine. It is possible that the flat tip of the ammunition combined with the magazine’s issue to make failure to feed more likely. In any case, once I took that magazine out of the lineup, everything was fine.
In case anyone is interested, it was an OEM (Czech-made) 10 round mag. No issues with the CZ-USA mags.
