Would a fitted disconector eliminate the need for a pre travel screw?I see a lot of people ore not installing them with a disconector upgrade.
In
DA/SA configuration, a disconector can influence the
Single Action pretravel/SA at rest Trigger position. The Upper Trigger set screw in the RRK Trigger influences the
Double Action pretravel/DA at rest Trigger position.
In factory
stock configuration the DA at rest trigger position is dictated by the Trigger contacting the inside of the hole in the pistols frame for the Trigger. If you install a Reach Reduction kit, it moves the start of the DA pull rearward, making the overall DA pull shorter. This allows you to use the Upper set screw in the RRK Trigger to move the at rest position reward, reducing the DA reach/DA pretravel. To be clear, the DA pull only starts once you feel added resistance, after any take up/pretravel.
In Single Action, the at rest Trigger position is a product of the thickness of the inside of the disconectors hook. This is because the inside of the discos hook catches on the Trigger Bar and holds the Trigger rearward when the Hammer is cocked.
All of the above is for DA/SA configuration. In Single Action Only configuration, you can use SAO Triggers that are designed differently. With these SAO Triggers you can use both set screws to adjust the SA pretravel and SA overtravel. DA/SA and SAO Triggers are significantly different in design.
