Front Sight Problem
« on: November 18, 2021, 01:23:39 PM »
I've replaced factory sights on 5 CZ pistols. I have a new P-01 and want to install Dawson night sights. I can't get the front sight to move even a little. The pin came out as they all have but using the Dawson punch and hitting it way harder than is comfortable it hasn't moved even a hair's width. I've soaked it with Ballistol, let it sir overnight but it hasn't budged. Any tips?

Yep had a couple that were tight like that. You may do what you want but I never intended to reinstall any factory sights so for the ones that would not move I securely clamped the slide in place and used a regular steel punch. This only took a couple good wacks and the sight was out. Yes the sight was ruined but as I said I was never putting them back anyway.

You might try a little heat.
If I had known how much better being retired is than working I would have done it FIRST.

Had same issue.  Wound up lubing the sight slide interface and put them in the freezer.  Next day secured the slide in a vice and used a lighter to provide heat to the slide around the muzzle barrel channel.  Popped right out on first tap.

Good luck.

The Dawson punches didn't pack enough wallop. I went a brass head punch and that got things moving. The sights are on and centered now. Thanks for the replies. I had never run into sights that tight before. Some were close but these took the prize.
