While I have an NEA Gen 1 model the only difference I see from Gen 2 is the permanent bottom pic rail. True? I like the looks way better on the NEA, but not sure of what constitutes a commercial spec vice Milspec on these rails? (I realize that NEA went downrange - from pics).
Cowitness is relative. I have a Gen 1 PA micro that works, but it seems what new HS ones don't. Anyone know which ones so far cowitness with the NEA upper? (Is NEA same height as BS)? Thanks.
Thickness of metal. There is no vertical gap between upper and lower rail on NEA.
IIRC, Gen1 is design of NEIT Arms that NEA bought (some NEA branded, some not) that has vents towards rear of lower and fixed lower rail that also reduces ventilation. Also IIRC, doesn't have side rails/holes that further reduce ventilation. NEIT also designed the AR taller sight system -- or at least the rear sight and stock adapter IIRC.
NEA's fixed detent for upper hg's retained pin is terrible design, but only complaint/ding I recall offhand -- have modded all of mine w/ cutdown CNCW spring and OEM style detent from them as well. NEA uppers also don't come w/ set screws excepting one securing pin detent, but can easily source.
Excepting that issue, NEA superior on all fronts. Bonesteel gen 2 Mlok version probably superior lower vs NEA but don't prefer it in hand given how I configure my Vzs. Still don't believe their gen1/2 (same AFAIK) upper rails are superior to NEA though.
Longer lower rail in NEA style/lines/design with existing NEA upper rail would be my perfection.
