StripLULA, MagLULA or something else?
« on: December 07, 2021, 12:49:28 PM »
I've been looking around for a Loader/speedloader for my .223 Sporter and was wondering if any of you have experience with the StripLULA?

On their homepage it says that: "M-16 / AR-15 10-round universal StripLULA® loader for all 5.56 / .223 metal & polymer stripper-clips and magazines, including PMAG’s and Lancer"
But then they offer specific variations for AUG and Mini-14 Mags, so they're not that universal are they?

Or do you guys have a good alternative for a loader, the stripper clip guide on the bolt carrier isn't an option as I would primarily need it at competitions.

Thanks everyone

Universal loader -- should work, but double-check w/ vendor: https://podavach.store/products/ar15-ak-u-loader

What format of magazine?  Some .223 Vz58s have tilt to lock mags w/o AR15 mag adapter.
In which case either of these should work even though listed at 7.62x39:
https://ar-akmagloader.mysimplestore.com/products/pz-2008-pz-58
https://cogburnarsenal.com/product/vz58-7-62x39-stripper-clip-mag-loader/

For AR mags, strip lulas require you to load rounds on stripper clips first.  If you pack and store on stripper clips and bandoleers, then not a problem -- if you don't, then not ideal.

The standard lula gen 2 allows loading single rounds and also allows for rapidly unloading mags.

Maglula bench loader and magpacker, both similar, are both superior to strip lula if no stripper clips and primarily wanting rapid loading.  Given current ammo prices, this isn't a priority for me.

It's the standard grey translucent CSA .223 Mags (tilt to lock).

That Cogburn Clip loader looks interesting but are you sure that works with .223? I mean the cases are physically narrower if I'm not mistaken.
Portability would be important for me as I need to carry it around IPSC stages all day.

Thanks a lot @RSR

BTW: Ammo prices in my area are always sky high and haven't gone up significantly

Clip loader would probably just be 7.62x39 unless combloc has 5.56 stripper clips (not aware of such) that are a little larger width...

Be aware VZ58's bolt carrier only works w/ Euro milspec 7.62x39 stripper clips AFAIK.  Crap chinese ones that run big are usually no-go -- apparently using worn-out tooling to make  which also means they don't hold rounds securely.  But you can try some 5.56 stripper clips in bolt carrier locked open, and if they work there, then the clip loader should work as well.

I did try the clip guide on the bolt carrier but it's not something I'm allowed to do during IPSC matches.

Thanks for the info, I wouldn't go and buy chinesium copies anyway as living in central Europe used stripper clips in 7.62x39 and 5.56 are cheap and plentiful.
