SP-01 Cajunized and maiden voyage.
« on: January 15, 2022, 03:40:44 PM »
Yesterday I took my brand new SP-01 that I had just finished Cajunizing and replacing the rear sight. It came with the fiber optic front sight.

Since I do not live in a 'free state',this was my alternative to a Shadow 2.
I am quite satisfied! I like how it balances in hand. I do not shoot any competition,so the centered weight of the Shadow 2 is not a big advantage.

After 100 slow deliberate rounds yesterday, I am very pleased.
It has a different feel than my Cajunized 85 Combat,so it is not redundant.

Thanks Fuzzy! Sorry the pictures are so big. No idea how to reduce them. I downloaded from my phone as medium size then to imgur.

That's awesome. I'm gonna have to try the card shooting, very impressive.
Your better off anyway, a built SA SP-01 will slays the stock S2 for half the price.
congrats, for building what others have to buy.
Are you going to shoot comps with it or just a range gun?
you should throw an S2 Mag release in there too, good cheap upgrade.
I dig the LPA sights!

Splitting the cards sounds like a fun challenge.  I'm gonna try it next time.  Great gun you got.

Hey all, I don't shoot competition. Jut range recreation.
The card splits I do at only 12 yards.

I should have mentioned this earlier, but my brand new 2021 production SP-01 came with a super nice trigger action out of the box (also fiber optic front sight).
The inside of the frame and trigger bar etc. had no machining marks. Maybe CZ is using updated equipment? Or I got lucky.
No Covid related QC problems!

Out of the box: Average of 5 SA pulls with Lyman: 1 lbs. 15.5 oz. DA 9 lbs 6.5 oz.
After the CGW race hammer, reduced power trigger spring, remove firing pin block and install SAO trigger (factory springs-no disco) Avg SA was 1 lbs 12.9 oz. (not yet used at range)

Compared to my Cajunized 85C (race hammer, std trigger spring, std springs, reduced reach disco) Avg SA: 2 lbs 9.7 oz.

well, I guess you got it bad then.
I wonder if the newer 2021s are made here in USA with new tooling? speculations...

Yesterday I took my brand new SP-01 that I had just finished Cajunizing and replacing the rear sight. It came with the fiber optic front sight.

Just an FYI, the front sight on your SP01 is for a standard 75 series.  The difference is the dovetail depth between the two.  The standard 75 series does not come with a bull barrel like the SP01 does and thus it has a deeper dovetail.  That is the reason that the blade is not flush with the top of the slide.  It's just an aesthetic thing and should function just fine.  You can't go the other way, the SP01 front sight will not fit in a standard 75 slide.

Cheers,
Toby

Thanks Toby !

I had my third session today.
I much improved the pre-travel adjustment and it is perfect.
Funny is that it does have a palpable 'wall' so I can move the trigger ever so slightly backward (pre-travel) until I hit the wall.
It is not like it is a hairpin trigger. Once activated it is crisp.

Anyway, I am really liking the flat CGW single action trigger.

Scary because I plan to keep my (2014 vintage) 85C with its original combat trigger but that flat SA trigger is spoiling me !!

Haha.
