beware
« on: January 25, 2022, 01:33:20 PM »
Just a warning, be careful when sending anything to CZ-USA for warranty repairs.  Maybe take a series of photos just in case of what you are including in the shipment.

I sent my CZ 527 to them since the stock had cracked behind the bolt, and the mag catch was broken as well.  I included two magazines, since both of them would never feed the 5th round properly.

They emailed me today letting me know the rifle was repaired, and that they had tested it with the shop magazine, since I had not included any magazines with the shipment.  I called them as soon as I got the email.  They claim that their warranty department immediately opens every shipment and catalogues what came.  Now, that may be true, but it was definitely not true in my case.  I sent the mags, but they are denying that I did.  The customer service manager basically just said the same thing (in an email rather than calling me back).  Getting any one in a position of authority at their office is well-nigh impossible as well.

If I want a mag to go with the rifle, they will happily sell me a new one for $40.

I've owned CZ's for years, and am absolutely in disbelief that they are treating a customer this way.

Just an update, CZ-USA did give me free upgraded shipping on the magazine I bought.  I wanted to add that since they at least agreed to that.  The rest of my post stands.  Lesson learned, although I'm not sure even photos would have helped me in this regard.  Guess next time just don't send the mags.  :-)

When I get the rifle back from CZ, I plan to sell it and will list it in the classifieds.

Welcome

dont know where you live or where you sent your gun to.

But sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.

I have no idea on who you are or how you do things.  But i had bought some toys and the seller just tossed stuff into the OEM box and called it good.  I had requested individual parts be wrapped/protected, but apparently they didnt get the message or didnt care.  The old brittle instructions were in tatters and parts damaged.    I had 1K + USD rifles shipped to me with muzzles and bolts sticking out of the cardboard box.  You would think that they would be a bit more careful, but they got their money so screw you.

when i ship something i pack it like its a toy going to me and so im overboard.  Some people will think im over cautious until something happens and then its a way different story.  Especially if it happens to them.  its always different when it happens to them and then its stop the presses.

again, i have no idea on how you did things, but what i do for ANY LOOSE items is to wrap them and if possible put them in a separate bag.

I also have a label printer and will print out the send to address and slap a copy on that part/bag just in case things get separated.  The label will also have my return address too, so if it gets loose at the destination they can match up the sender with the other parts.

I also put on the box LOSE PARTS or PARTS ENCLOSED too so that the person opening the box will know there are some smaller parts/bags/containers that could get overlooked or just tossed out with the box.

And last comment.  I also put in a note/letter stating who i am, who it goes to, the contact info, when i contacted them, description of why im sending the toy back, and an itemized list of what i enclosed.

i know/understand this maybe too much work for you and others, but thats up to you and others.  While you may have done all this, i have no idea since all you have posted is what you have done in the OP.

and again, sometimes you can do all the right things and still get screwed.  Its also known as life.

good luck

Yes, I was extra careful too.  CZ sent me the return label to ship via Fedex.  I placed rifle in a hard plastic case, put the mags in ziplock bags and sharpied on to them what the issue was, placed them inside the case too, locked the hard case with zip ties, and then placed the case in a large cardboard box filled with newspaper for packing materials.  I even sharpied my name on the hard plastic case.  I took every precaution I could think of at the time.

CZ did tell me the box arrived from Fedex in good condition, so it wasn't that something "dropped" out.  It certainly wasn't that someone along the way opened the box, took the mags, but left the rifle.  It was (at least in my mind) a case of the first person to unpack the box being "busy" when it arrived, and they just didn't inventory it correctly.  The manager admitted that there are "punishments in place if information is inputted incorrectly" on arrival. And how do you ever know if the employee messed up, if you ALWAYS trust the word of the employee over the customer?  The manager was careful not to call me a liar explicitly, but it was implied that I was either being dishonest or incompetent. Of course, "punishments" can be a double-edged sword, because it means if the employee makes a mistake they are unlikely to admit it and face a penalty of some kind. Honestly, the attitude of CZ is basically that you just have to trust that we would never inventory a shipment incorrectly.  ;)

I believe one day, while someone at CZ is digging around in the stuff that is undoubtedly just lying around in their receiving area, they will find a nice big ziploc bag with two 527 mags inside labeled that there is an issue with them, will wonder where they came from and who's they were, and then will just toss them into another drawer.   :)  :'(

At any rate, I'll get the rifle back in tip-top shape, with a brand new mag.  Someone will snag a pretty good deal once I put it up for sale.

That's why I got rid of that shoddy quality PCR, I hate dealing with any kind of "customer service"

Interesting. I had to send 2 different CZ's in years ago and customer service was nothing less than stellar. Wish I could say the same for Sig and H-Krap.

I have always had good experiences with CZ as well, that's one reason why their response totally floored me.

I am really sorry to hear that, especially when it sounds like you did everything I would have done. And I agree photos probably would not have helped anyway.

Still, I'm astounded at the unbelievably horrible packaging jobs from some vendors. It hasn't happened often, but I have had more than a couple things sent to me in the mail over the years from alleged professionals that the US Post Office should not have even accepted. Gotta wonder what some people are thinking.

Despite your precautions, maybe they got mixed in with some junk and mindlessly discarded. Don't lose hope though, perhaps they'll remember you. Stranger things have happened.

Same here. I was impressed with their personal attentiveness. CZ was the opposite of the impenetrable fortresses most places have become.

I take pictures of any gun I send in to any company. Never had an issue like this though. I have had to send guns in to S&W, CAI, CZ, Sig and PSA. Out of all of them I have never had an issue. All have had excellent customer service with the most recent being Sig. I sent in an old P226 for the service package. I got it back and the rear sight has dead tritium on the left side. Called them up and they sent me an overnight label and the slide is headed back. Too easy.

I have had to send a Rami and P01 into CZ. The Rami was an easy fix and had it back in no time. The P01 Omega UG/SR had a dead night sight. They kept it for about a month and then contacted me that they could not get new SR sights. So, they offer me a new gun. I agreed and it showed up in a few days with two more new mags.

Sorry about your bad experience, however it doesn't surprise me, not picking on CZ I have no experience with them Im saying in general I expect transactions to have a bump in the road!! I guess I'm getting to be that old man I always thought "man he's a grumpy old dude". I don't like what I'm becoming but hey after a high percentage of "issues" you become a product of your environment. But thanks for the heads up..
