I have waffled for many years on picking up an 82. I don't have any other 9x18 handguns and didn't really want to gear up to reload them. My quest for finding an 83 in .380 has been fruitless so at a gunshow recently I picked this one up instead. 1985 date with 1998 refurb date. 2 mags and no holster. Looks to be in great shape but I have yet to field strip. I have always loved how they fit in my hand the many times handling over the years. The price was fair retail for the current times. Wish I would have got one back when they were $100-150. Now I search for dies, brass and bullets.

Pulling the trigger guard down to release the slide is easier on some CZ82/83s and more difficult on others.

My CZ82 is easy and my CZ83 requires a lot of strength and luck, but it eventually comes open.

My 83 is a real bear to pull down also and it's why I don't think the gun has been fired much.

Mine pulled down fairly hard. Not as hard as my SMC 380 though.

I have 150 rounds of Norma 9x18 coming. I'll try those before I start ordering reloading supplies. I have had great luck using MBC bullets.

What powder is prefered? I have plenty of TiteGroup.

Try more of a pull forward (toward muzzle) and down motion of the trigger guard.

Love the CZ82's!  I have three and two are on my carry permit.

For practice rounds I use the cheap Lee dies, cut down 9mm luger brass and since I cast my own bullets, I use the Lee 95 gr makarov mold for bullets.  Very cheap loads and never have had any failure to feed.

You're going to like your new pistol. The 82 is for me Thee CZ handgun, as the 75 series guns just dont fit my hand (fingers too short and stubby). Once you figure out the combloc engineering, taking it down gets easier.

It does "flip" or kick a bit, but they are well made guns and I love the way they feel.

Mind letting us know what you paid?  I got mine in 2012 for $199 + shipping, tax & transfer.  I thought it was a great deal.  I got it as a refinishing project, but it, too, was refurbished and in much better condition than I expected it to be, so I kept it as-is (except for a couple coats of truckbed liner to makes the slick plastic grips grippier).  The Czechoslovak Army must have shot the hell out of it, as the trigger is smooth as warm butter, both DA and SA.


I intended to get a second one to refinish, but Newtown happened shortly after — prices skyrocketed and never came down (as long as I kept shopping).


I think the 82 is easily the best pistol chambered in 9 Makarov.

Not a deal by any means but I was OTD at just under 500. The only other one at the show was 375 but it was really beat up and "improved?/!" with a red dot.
